Benchmade VS Spyderco

Gotta be Spydie. They introduced me to the mania. I own both, but my heart still pulls toward Golden for the Range of designs and their dedication to the end user community.

Chris:) :) :)

Spyderco. I'd love to get an axis folder, but most designs don't appeal to me. On the other hand, I'd like to buy about 2/3 of what's in the Spyderco catalog:D

Part of my fondness for BM is due to nostalgia. My first good knife was a BM Mini AFCK. I own a few Spyderco models but I find many of the designs ugly and I don't like the relatively large handles found on many models. The Axis lock is a great design. Benchmade's Red Class is a disappointment for me but I'll just stay far away.

i really cant decide which one i prefer. My only folder from spyderco is a Manix, which happens to be my favorite folder i own. I have not yet found a folder i like more than the manix, and i have felt many benchmades and other spydercos. One thing i noticed was that spydercos g10 feels more grippy to me which i prefer. Spyderco knives also seem sharper than benchmade NIB. I love spydercos lock back and i also like BMs axis lock.
So i guess when it comes down to it, neither one is my favorite, both have certain qualities that i like and dislike. I am a picky person when it comes to knives anyway and it takes me a pretty long time to decide on a purchase. I'd buy from both companies if they have what im looking for. ok im tired and im done :)

I own 4 Spyderco's and 1 Benchmade.

Like everyone else says, the Benchmade has much better fit and finish, tighter tolerances and classier looks. Spyderco's G10 is MUCH nicer than BM's, comparing my Para to my Stryker.

I wish I could say something original, but I can only repeat what has been said. My Spyderco's are better at real world hard cutting. My Benchmade feels higher quality and I love the looks. I really appreciate both companies, and plan on buying knives from both of them again.

But my vote will go to Spyderco for what really matters, cutting things. I do really love my BM 910 though:thumbup:

Well, I just bought my first Spyderco in 4 months (that's a long time) and I've squarely pushed into the middle again. I was on a Benchmade run there for awhile but I forgot how fun Spyderco knives are. This little Calypso Jr. in ZDP189 is just spectacular. It's like a lightweight close range laser in your pocket.

I collect both Spydercos and Benchmades. I probably have more Benchmades at this time and love the Skirmish line, but just picked a 75mm Persian today that I really like. So put me down for 0.51 votes for Spyderco and 0.49 Benchmade, but that may change.

Both! lol

I have two Benchmade and 4 Spyderco folders.

BM550
BM MiniGrip in D2
Spyderco Delica
Spyderco Endura
Spyderco Native
Spyderco D'Allara Drop point

All are quality knives.

I'm down to just one BenchMade but its the best one I've ever owned. The HK34FDP. Its outragously nice. It and the Ocelot are competing for pocket time since it arrived.

That's it then - Spyderco's better than Benchmade.

Can we please stop posting these mind-numbing "VS" threads now?

Steven this is your opinion.Do you want perhaps to make another "poll" sothat to see if most people want to stop this thread or not?:D

While I love my Delica and the Spyderco company, I'm a huge Benchmade fan and would buy my next knife from them because of their:

-Customer Service
-Product range
-Axis lock!
-Impeccable quality, fit and finish
-Better ergonomics (My hands are fairly large)

But with that said, I respect both companies and would have no hesitation in buying another Spyderco- it's merely that Benchmade's designs tend to suit my wants/needs better.

Well, I only have one from each company, I like more traditonal knives. I too feel the Benchmade has better fit and finish, tighter tolerances and classier looks. But I tend to use the Spyderco more in the real world. I also will buy more from each company, but I feel Benchmade has a edge in 'desirability' . My vote is Benchmade. I must also say my Benchmade cost twice as much as the Spyderco.
