I sent in a 908 KSF exclusive with a broken spring. The Tech working on the knife called me to tell me to pull back on both sides when closing.
That’s the only knife I closed like that and it’s the only spring I’ve broken.

Just to address one point made in the OP, and I note the edit regarding Hunting Season.
Omega springs not as good as they used to be? I doubt it. What is often overlooked, and has been clarified by Benchmade, is that disengaging the lock using only one side of the lock knackers the springs. I’ve always disengaged the locks on both sides, and have been using a 710 for years, with no problem at all. None of my axis locks have suffered any problems, and given that I’m English, and will not be paying ridiculous shipping and customs duty, with the risk of seizure, on any of my knives, I can and I do disassemble them, clean them and put them back together.
If a spring breaks, I will simply make a new one: it isn’t rocket surgery.![]()
