Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

XtianAus & h7per,it's about what you like besides CPK,but anyway, try a Koster Bushcraft or Bushmaster!the maker is a piece of sh.t,but these 2 models are second to none!3V steel, quality fit & finish (for these models!),you have to check the secondary market they pop up every now and then. you won't be dissapointed!

After reading the comments over the years, to include the recent updates in the GBU on Koster, this is probably some of the worst advice I’ve seen in the Carothers forum.

No matter how good you think the knives are built, the whole business model behind them is screwing people over for long periods of time. Why anyone would recommend them is beyond me, second hand purchased or not, it’s still supporting the sh.tty maker.

different people different opinions, but that's fine!but fact is these 2 models from king scumbag are superb in fit & finish and ergonomics.one thing you see wrong Jsega51 is that when you buy from the secondary market you do not support king scumbag but the seller who may need the money for what ever reason.

Y

Yeah folders/autos (except can't have autos here:( ) are an exception.
But for fixed...cpk!
Dek is my favourite so far from the 6 or 7 models i've owned.

That sucks that you can't have an auto. I'm glad that we woke up the politicians here in Texas.
The DEK1 is my favorite knife that I have ever held in my hands, for an EDC. Right now I have my Unbuffed Black Micarta scales on her. But if I had to fight with a knife, I'm sure that my UF2/DEF with full dagger grind would be my choice when I receive her.

Hope this helps

Why do people want to chop with the middle of a blade instead of further up at the "sweet spot"? I never understood this. I see "reviews" where people do stuff like this. Just chopping without real intent. Maybe it's just me I dunno but it rubs me the wrong way. Maybe the "sweet spot" is a Myth and chopping out further on the knife doesn't improve performance. Just like swinging a baseball bat you wanna hit the ball as close to your hands as possible.......

Yeah, if you want to pop it up.

I agree with the rest though, about chopping. Just look at a khukuri and it tells you all you need to know about where the sweet spot is.

What is it Koster knives did?
There is a Feedback section of the exchange. You can find good and bad feedback about companies and individuals. He seems to be bad enough to enough people to always have a thread going...

that sweet spot that you're talking about is the center of percussion. However when you're making deep cuts with a chopper you will get deeper bites by hitting behind that center of percussion because then the impact is driving the handle up into your hand which puts some of the mass of your arm into the cut. On a competition chopper your power zone is an area between the guard and the middle of the blade. The tip of the blade is where you develop tip speed and go for things like straws and rope.
