where could a person interested in something like that do so?

I DM’d him on instagram. His books are currently open for sloyd orders and he has an online form to fill out on his profile page if you want one. I just happened to notice he had made a puukko for fun a few weeks back so I thought maybe he’d be down for another one in aeb-l. Turns out he was.

Here is his instagram.

Got my new little camp axe from Sweden! When I purchased the axe I had asked Nils if he could make me a natural colored edge protector instead of his usual purple dyed color and even though he said the purple had already been made, he whipped up another one and sent both. Nils is slowly building up his axe making business and making improvements, not only in the quality of work, but also small details like new pamphlets that have info about axe care, terminology, grinds, plus info about himself and his family.

May I ask how long was the wait for this beauty, is going to be a user?

This one shipped pretty dang fast so I only waited a week! It wasn’t a requested order and I don’t believe he takes them but what he does is he will usually make a small batch of axes and then post them on his website for sale, signing up for his email list is easiest to get notifications when they’re available. It seems like he has them every couple of months depending on what patterns he’s making as some are more time consuming.

Every new knife/gun/axe purchase is always made with the intent to be a user but that doesn’t always happen lol. I do plan to use this one though and compare it to a couple of other smaller camp axes that I like to use, one being a mini-camper/hatchet from Liam Hoffman and a similar sized axe to Nils’ made by Pawel Surdel from Poland. Outside of the handmades though, I have a basic Fiskers small camp axe that has seen so much use and beating on over the years that it’s hard to argue it’s utility and value for what it cost!
