Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

This was me in my driveway as the etch came in.
A couple weeks ago I tried ferric chloride and it was too strong, turned black instantly, but clouded and streaked the stainless cladding. I redid the finish to a decent mirror and super sharp edge, then etched in straight apple cider vinegar. Took a lot longer, but got there eventually and kept the mirror.

That looks great Richard. Did you make Nathan a bowie? 🧐

Such a good design.

I've been pretty impressed with some of the WTG offerings.

The Kodiak is the knife that took me to WTG. The Designer (*Alex) used to offer them in the Makers' section of The Exchange, pre-COVID and before licensing with Vic at WTG. I passed-up acquiring one of the originals and regret it to this day.

For me, the Kodiak is a wonderful (*and perfectly beautiful) design. Beyond that, what I like the most about Alex and his designs is that he didn't just hand Vic the keys and bounce. Usually, a few days before a drop of one of his designs, he'll make a vid or three showing some outdoor usage with it. If the drop is a new steel offering, he'll also offer some steel comparison(s).

Can't make out from the pic; 3 different steels?

The top and bottom are SK85 with the middle being Bohler K329. They just recently offered a drop in "A6Max", which is an optimized version of AUS6.

Yup. The kodiak is what got me interested in WTG's offerings.

It was the wolverine (also made by alex) that's in A8max. My mistake.

There's a new model made by Alex called the bear claw, which is similar to the Kodiak, but it has a swedge and choil.

Here's a link to a YouTube video where Alex tests out the Kodiak in A6max.

This is the thread where you can post up pictures of the other knives you've picked up that you really like.
Just for the fun of it:)

I really enjoy CPK and survive .
But I have a question about your designs the kukri and the hdfk. Would it be possible to order the HDFK as is with no fuller and no lightning of the handle . Just screws for the bolts and lanyard. Is that something we can get custom?

Also will the kukri have a Skelton handle ? What are the diemensions ? Thank you

AFAIK, the HDFK is a retired pattern. I don't think they'll be making any more of those.

The SS SDFK is the closest to what you've described (but those also aren't currently being produced). The only option at this time is to try to acquire one on the secondary market.

theoretically, I coooould make small number of them. They wouldn't be cheap.
the production version of the khuk will likely be different than the prototype that I made, so I can't give you any specifics.

Just keep them in separate drawers, please. We wouldn't want the CPKs to catch something :)

SDFK on the left, blade is about .5" longer than HDFK. You can also get without swedge and no "lightning of the handle". Maybe place a WTB add ?

Cheers,

Roland.

I’m going to place a WTB. I do own the HDFK and the newer 7 “ version

I love that leather work who did it ?

Thank you for quick response. I would pay what ever you asked or send cash and trades etc as an extra thank you.
I would love the blades in delta 3v. No fuller just the lanyard hole and bolt holes and no fuller and either a convex grind down to v edge or savage vex .
I’d be more than happy to get the kukris too. These are my grail blades so I would rather buy it right the first time . Please let me know this would be a huge honor . Thanks
