I am looking for a knife that I can edc without worrying about beating the crap out of it. So in your oppinion what is the best $25-$30 folder?

I'd say what others have. Rat 1, Tenacious, Skyline. I like the Rat the best out of those three.

I might look at some of the new lower price point Kershaw Hinderer designs, they look interesting to me and I am not a low price knife guy. I have no experience with them, but in that price range you mentioned that is most likely what I would buy right now. They are made in China in case that is important to you.

Skylines are also nice knives although most places they are slightly more expensive than your listed price but they are USA made.

Ontario Rat 1 is a functional folder, decent fit and finish for the price, no bells or whistles but it does get the job done, I keep one I bought years ago under my truck seat in case I forget a knife and need one at work.

I would have to go with the Kershaw as well. I edc a rainbow leek, super slim in your pocket super sharp edge. My fav little folder. you can get a regular leek for that price range. the assisted opening is super smooth as well.

Ontario RAT 1
Ontario Utilitac 2
Spyderco Tenacious

Cold Steel Pocket Bushman
Opinel # 10 or 12

Spyderco Tenacious, Rat 1, Skyline is what many other people said and I would have to agree if your trying to beat the crap out of it.

Whether it is the best or not, I have no idea, but I like the knife and bought it on a whim. It's the Ka-Bar Dozier Folding Hunter in Aus8 (Taiwan)-no hole, 3" blade, thumbstud and one-hand opening. It is a pretty solid knife for $20-$25. You can use hard and not worry about damaging it like you might some of the lower priced SAKs.

I don't own many sub-$30 knives and this one impressed me.

Opinel 10 or 12 as well. Stainless if you like that (the Inox takes a fine edge and seems to hold it a bit longer than the carbon steel).

You can get two sizes for that price (I like an 8 and 10 combo, or a 7/10 combo for edc).

What they said...
Plus- kershaw chill, buck nobleman...ummm. And dont forget a nice Case traditional slipjoint.

The byrd Meadowlark 2 has been incredibly good to me. Smooth, light as hell, 4 position clip... I've got no complaints whatsoever. Got mine for $18. Take the extra dough and buy a sandwich.
