Best $50 workhorse ?

dmonay-

The Native IS American made.

You are right. I forgot its right on the blade. Duh. That is why I bought it!
I stand corrected. Thanks for setting that right. I will correct my original post.

I always like to buy American when possible.

I have to agree with Flash. The K-bar doziers are inexpensive tough knives. The K-bar mule is also an extremely robust knife within the $50 price range. Honestly the mules look like they were built to take on a Sherman tank. I recently turned a buddy of mine on to them. His requirements were much the same as yours and he loves it.

My buck 110 went through hell and back before getting stolen. Plus its got buck's warranty. And I hear you Americans get it at wally world for 26 bucks. (lucky devils, it costs $60 in a canadian walmart, even with the better dollar:grumpy:.)

Take a look at the Spyderco D'Allara. It's a very comfortable and extremely workable knife. Perfect size, good blade shape, and innovative lock.

They were just recently discontinued, but if you check the "for sale by dealer" section, they're being sold there for "wholesale" ($55) right now while stock lasts.

Personally, as much as I love both my Native and my Mini-Grip, the D'Allara is more comfortable in the hand. After seeing them for $55, I actually just bought a second one.

Benchmade Grip
Spyderco Delica
Cold steel Voyager Tantos
Spyderco Endura

All workhorses and can be had for 50 or under in the For Sale forums (The Grip in 440 versions and sometimes the 154CM version)

GB just get a Sebenza and get it over with. It's a great user and you already know you love it.

What about the basic Kershaw Blur? I think Wally World has the black coated tanto bladed variant - I don't remember the price. My plain Jane red one is nearing five years old - it has opened and cut many an item. I have an early 440C Grip, too... nicely made, but never overly sharp - and dull as can be now. The Kershaws were far better as delivered - and returned so with my Spydie SM - the Grip awaits my interest there.

The Spydie Native S30V from Wally World, bought last June, has been a workhorse... and, it clearly states where it was made on that nice blade - Earth!

Native Delica Endura
Take your pic. Any will last and do whatever you throw at them.
My personal workhorses-
an original delica (over 12 years old)
A new Endura
an over 10 yr. old BM mini-stryker

Kershaw Needs Work...less than $50...

Spyderco D'Allara...a little more than $50...

Too many others to mention...:D

Ray :)

Buy two Buck 110's for $50.00 ,keep one mint in the box to give as a Christmas gift because you'll never wear it out.

agree on the small Doziers - a whole lot of knife for a piddlin amount of $. K-shaw blurs are more money -but probably worth it. Heard at the knife show this weekend that dealers are get some fierce reductions right now on SpeedBumps - this should translate into some pretty fair prices on these in the short term.
And I'd also agree that if you can get a Griptilian at somewhere near your price range -you'll love it and probably never wear it out.
Truth of the mater is we are all very lucky that a lot of effective rugged tools are available to us for this kind of money!
