Best 8"+ production dagger.

I don't think you need the carry permit to open carry. If you have the carry permit, you can conceal carry.

I am wanting something like this b/c I dont' have a large fighting specific knife for theoretical open carry, home defense etc. Also, I am toying w/ carrying this concealed in slightly modified pants.

I don't believe you can open carry any blade over 4" in FL.

thanks for the input. I looked up randall knives. Added to my bookmarks. Went ahead and ordered the OSS.

Othere nice and expensive daggers are James KEathing's Crossada and the Hammond Flesh Eater.

+1 on Randall fighting knives. Not cheap but not insane either - you'll pass them down through the generations. Very nice.

That thing is gorgeous.

I haven't crunched the numbers, but that knife in the photo would set you back somewhere in the neighborhood of about $600 (including the $45 extra for the black sheath) . . . after a five-year wait.

Yeah, I'm a Randall junkie and I think it's well worth it, but an awful lot of people turn kinda green when you tell them that.

Condor makes a pretty cool dagger:

I think the edge is around 8" on that one. Around $50.

I have this one below- it's sorta a dagger, sorta a smatchet, kinda a gladius.
This is probably bigger than what you're looking for, but it is awesome.

I realize it's too late now, but for future reference, your best bet on finding a good selection of daggers may be with vendors who specialize in swords, etc. I haven't checked in detail, but am sure Museum Replicas (Atlanta Cutlery) would have something in your price range. On the higher end, check out the drool-worthy dagger page from Arms & Armor. Lots of other makers out there, too, such as Lutel.

The beauty of GA.

We have pending legislation that would take restrictions off knives entirely. The bill passed senate vote. Just has to pass house and then the governor.

It does away with blade length. Hell it defines a blade as a fixed blade with over 5 inches. Anything is game under the new law, even automatics. Heck, carry a sword if you want if you can conceal it.

It rewords "firearm" as "weapon" and defines weapons. Also, a concealed carry perm would allow one to carry said "weapon" (edged or firearm) anywhere that doesn't have a jail or courthouse, basically.

It would also allow anyone that owns a firearm without a concealed carry perm to open carry.

Sorry to hijack thread. I'd go custom for a dagger with a length of 8 inches.

Did someone say Randall 2-8? This is mine. I think it was worth the wait.

Yeah, I'd say it was worth the wait. I don't care how long the wait was, that would be worth it.

I am looking for a dagger for under $100. Dagger as defined as a thin double edged blade w/ a double guard. Think british commando knife.
Production daggers of that size are really rare and I actually can't think of any off hand. I suppose you might find some cheap daggers in that size range sold as decorations, but I don't think you will find a decent knife.

If you will be willing to look at something in the 6-7 inch range, your options open up a bit. Boker makes the Schanz Integral Dagger which looks very nice. Integral hilt, 6 7/8 inch blade, micarta handles. I've seen these for $90-100 on line.

Boker also makes an Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Knife. Derlin handles, 6 inch blade, available both with and without serrations. These go for between $80-100 on line.

Gerber, Ka-Bar, SOG and Blackhawk all also make daggers in this price range, but I think all of them has some form of serrations, which I agree are stupid on a dagger. Other than that, you have to either go with more expensive production knifes in the $200+ range (Randal, Ek, etc.) or go with a custom which is probably going to cost around the same.

Criteria:
-8 to 9" blade, no less, no more
-double guard (will be using hammer grip)
-no serrations on either edge
-non-round cross section handle. I don't want to have to look at it to orient the edges.

Thinking of the cold steel OSS. I really like the sub hilt.

Also thinking of a "SWiss dagger". Boker makes a fantastic one but it is over $250. I love the handle design. Does anyone know of one closer to $100 that doesnt' have all the nazi/ss markings on it?

This just might be what you're looking for.I was recently reading an article in the May 2010 issue of Tactical Knives about the Spanish tradition of boar hunting which is done with a pack of bloodthirsty dogs. When the boaring tracked down and trapped, the hunter goes in with what's refered to a Spanish Remate Knife and inflicts a precise stab to the boar ending the hunt.

Florida allows the carrying of weapon-oriented knives with a concealed weapon permit. I think it's the only state that allows this.

From the word of the law:

790.01 Carrying concealed weapons.--
(1) Except as provided in subsection (4), a person who carries a concealed weapon or electric weapon or device on or about his or her person commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
...
(3) This section does not apply to a person licensed to carry a concealed weapon or a concealed firearm pursuant to the provisions of s. 790.06.

790.001. Definitions.
(3)(a) "Concealed weapon" means any dirk, metallic knuckles, slungshot, billie, tear gas gun, chemical weapon or device, or other deadly weapon carried on or about a person in such a manner as to conceal the weapon from the ordinary sight of another person.

I love this state.

There's another reason to love Spain. Anybody who can pick up one of these beauties and stick a pig is a stud in my book! Price is seriously reasonable too. Wonder is they're made in Spain?
