Best 8"+ production dagger.

There are virtually no production daggers 8" or over. 7" seems to be the limit.

Scorpion knives makes one,

It's the knife issued to Brunei military personnel, and you can get a blade of 8", 10", or 12".

I was thinking of getting one. Still might, though at >$300 with 420 steel they seem a bit expensive.

My original Gerber Mk II - when I was a Devil Pup in '77 - was probably slightly longer and had that sort of coke bottle shape but was very much dagger-like. Not sure if they have production of that anymore - can recall that the steel is a royal PITA to sharpen however. The Mk I was the boot knife although maybe I have these reversed. I had kydex sheaths made for both a couple of years ago but retain original sheaths.

AFAIK, the Mk II has always been around 6.6 inches. They do still produce a version of the Mk II, but without the original wasp-waste profile (which IIRC was supposed to make it a more effective slasher). The current version also has larger serrations than the original design.

I always disliked the serrations (both old and new) as IIRC they were added so it could be marketed as a more palatable "survival knife". Its still a very sexy fighting knife, however. ;)

There's another reason to love Spain. Anybody who can pick up one of these beauties and stick a pig is a stud in my book! Price is seriously reasonable too. Wonder is they're made in Spain?

I think so. I used to have one of those huge daggers so so long ago. I remember they were nicely finished, but I have no idea of how they perform. I guess it doesn't really count that much for knife that you just stick into boar. :)

The Boker Swiss Dagger (or baselard dagger) has an 8 5/8" blade and looks sexy as hell.

oh they do...the problem is, after the 6" limit, they change their name to "gladius".

MY OPINION ON A PARTICULAR DAGGER:
