Best all around knife.

on an outdoors trip, this is easily one of my most used knives.

Model?

Favorite knife? The one I go to most is my Buck 105 Pathfinder, being the most used knife for "in the hand" time. My Kellam Wolverine & ESEE Izula are tied for second spot.

What would you say is your favorite knife? I'm mainly referring to fixed blades on this post. What knife do you take everywhere?

This Jim Stewart custom in S30V sees more belt time in the woods then most of my knives.

A new addition to my Job Site EDC rotation that's tops right now is this Fiddleback.

Most usually, I take whatever knives I most recently purchased and want to play with. As you know, my trips are planned around "I got a knife, let's go use it," instead of "I'm going on a trip, I need to buy a knife." Favorite knife? ESEE-6 or Ka-Bar LHB.

Victorinox Soldier.

A similar model would be the Victorinox One Hand Trekker, with different handles (includes the standard Tweezers & Toothpick).

If you'd prefer something with a Corkscrew, go for the Victorinox Forrester. It has a Corkscrew, instead of the Phillips Screwdriver. Same type of handles as the Soldier, but Red w/ Black trim.

Is it better than the Kabar one IYO? Or you just own that one?

Sorry to come back to this one so late, I've been down with the flu, and missed this earlier.

To answer your question, I own only that one, for now. I don't know if a Camillus Becker is any better than a Kabar version. (A while back I started making the Camillus distinction when Ethan made arrangements with Kabar to take over production of his line.) There have been several mfrs. using different materials, so it would be a matter of personal opinion. My Bk7 is 0170-6C steel (Cold Steel's Carbon V) and it definitely has an advantage as far as edge holding & durability compared to my other fixed blades. Kabar's Becker line uses their 1095, as far as I know, which is excellent steel as well, and they treat it right.

Depending on how big of a blade you like there could be several but personally I like a larger blade

I think the Scrap Yard Regulator is about the best all-arounder Ive tried. I can do anything from chop down a small tree to skin a rabbit with it.

for a pocket EDC i like either a spyderco endura or a crkt m14 or m21 depending on whether i plan on cutting something or hoping i dont have to use it, and out into the woods i like a combo of a sog creed and sog seal pup, but ive got a fallkniven a1 in the mail which im hoping will be the only one i need for the woods from now on

Good thread. I mostly admire my knives --- especially the nice ones --- but I did once kill a big boar (250lbs) with my Larry Harley Battle Bowie. So, I guess this is my "to hell and back" knife. It worked like a charm --- one under the front left leg stab (to the heart like butter) and that was that. It was dead very quickly and did not suffer. My family ate the tenderloin (even my little girls) and my aunt made a ham. I had the black head stuffed. (It was over the fireplace for a while.) This was in a very rural area of South Carolina. Hand protection on this blade is excellent and for a large, thick blade it handles very well. Excellent Fighter / Hog Hunting Knife. So, I used it just once, but it served me very well. :-) (Pic should show it next to a large Sebenza for size purposes.)

The best knife for me, the one that has left me no desire to buy anymore fixed blades is a 5.5" Randall #18.

You are one of the fortunate few who can stop. The rest of us are condemned to repeat the cycle forever :)

I'm not asking what is the best knife, I just want to know what knives that you guys have taken to Hell and back, enjoying the whole trip. If it were me, that knife would be my most loved and most used.

There is no trees to cut down in hell (I am not sure I was newer there but metallica said that it is very good down there).
