I am looking for the forums general opinion on the best American made locking folder in the $50 to $70 range. Nothing against the Japan and Taiwan productions. I a big fan of CS and Spyderco knives.
I just feel it's time for me to carry American made.

Thanks,
Frangouch

God Bless America

I don't know all of the Spyderco knives that are made in America but the Paramilitary is and it is one of the most recommended knives. A Paramilitary 2 will cost you closer to $100 but it is a very good knife.

I think most Benchmades are made in America. The Griptilian and mini-Griptilian are the ones available closest to your budget. They are very good knives but the plastic handle scales can make them appear a little bit cheap.

Can't beat the Buck Vantage pro in that price range. US made, G10 scales, S30V steel BOS treated. It's a nice and slim knife which is easy to pocket carry plus it's backed by the forever warranty.

Was gonna say the same thing.

Most all Buck knives are excellent value for $. Most fall in your price range. Never been disappointed in any of the many i own. regards Henry

Kershaw Blurs are very nice, amd from time to time they do limited runs of colors and blade combos I think this year is Green in 154Cm

Spyderco Native. Around $50, feels great in hand, s30v steel, nice FRN, very solid, just a great folder. And in my opinion, you can't beat this knife at the price.
There are also a bunch of American Made Kershaws as well.
But I just love the Native.

If you could go up to around $75, the Spyderco Manix 2 is another awesome folder to look at.

Good luck in your hunt.

Might want to look into Great Eastern Knives if you like traditional patterns. They are fantastic.

I second the suggestion of a Benchmade Mini Griptilian. I recommend the 556 but you can take your pick among several blade/handle color options.

Many folks become very attached to their Mini Grips and rightfully so. It's a hard knife not to like. I consider it an American icon like the Buck 110 although it hasn't been around as long. You might have to look around a bit to find one for $70 but I've seen them out there.

First off, THANK YOU for having, IMO, moral priorities. Out of the dozens of knives I've toyed with over the years almost all leave something to be desired. I can easily say that "X" knife is "good for the price" on up to the $500 mark. Few knives really tickle my pickle on the lower end. As far as best bang for the buck, I would say Sebenza. IMO it is a near perfect knife and is near perfectly priced. I would never tell someone that they NEED to try out a Sebenza though. As far as acceptable loss via price point goes, there are some that are adequate to me...keeping in mind that my taste is in mostly modern designs and modern materials. <$70 that I would recommend to a buddy: Spyderco Native, Kershaw Skyline, Kershaw Blur, Benchmade Griptilian, Knives of Alaska Folding Hunter to name a few. At the same time though I would urge said buddy to take it up a notch and try out a Benchmade 940/943 or a Spyderco Paramilitary 2. These two knives are extremely popular for good reasons.

Great topic but i must ask are we talking 100% Made In America? Is it possible that some of the folder's parts are made overseas and still say MIA on the box?

I'd say either the Benchmade Griptilian or the Spyderco Manix 2 would be among the some the best American made knives within the price range listed.
