Best axe ever made

Aj35, what ever you do, do not get caught up in the "axis of rotational BS" and other justifications proffered by people who profess to know reasons as to why one is better than the other. What matters is what you like and what feels right for you and what fits your style and purpose...FULL STOP. I have all kinds of axes, some cut hard wood, some cut soft wood and some don't cut that well at all. Like I have stated before, the only part of an axe that cuts is the edge, everything else supports the edge in doing just that. You get the recipe right and YOU have the best cutting axe in the world......... I would love to compare it to mine.... LOL.... Cheers, ICS

If you actually read and understood that information you'd realize that it actually doesn't have much to do with determining what's "best" other than setting the hang appropriately (and a few other things, but minor ones.)

FortyTwo, I understand the information perfectly and I agree, it is more an aspect of tuning, but to start there and argue that it has a significant impact is somewhat misguided information for someone new to the game. I have been doing this stuff for a long time and determining the A of R is not something even considered in the setting up of an axe at the highest level. I say keep it simple and you will attract a lot more people in using these magnificent basic tools. Regards, ICS

If "the A of R" you are referring to is axis of rotation, it is critical to this axe related situation.

Hey guys I have had my eye on a few sager chemicals and Kelly registered but they all went for more than I wanted to spend, however I did pick up a Kelly perfect 2 3/4 pound double bit, I think it would be considered a cruiser axe. I was the only bidder and won it for 9.95 plus shipping :D. seems to be in good shape but I wont know for sure until it arrives.

For $10 if this turns out to have lots of blade steel left and is not misshapen at the eye you've got $100-150 left to play with compared to having bought 'boutique' that has no history.
