Best Becker for Survival?

Nah, not at all!! I'm a big fan of the 5 as well and after of years of pining away for one, I'm finally playing catch up. Changed out the grips today.

:D I'm going to change out the black bag for a Spec Ops Combat Master long, supposed to be good for 8.5 inches.

LOL, Great minds!!!! Btw, I have one of those Spec Ops sheaths for an Ontario Marine knife and they are awesome!

Don't know if there really is a best. There's best for certain circumstances, or at least a few great options for certain circumstances. The way you put it, I'd like BK10 or bigger, bk7 is good but, probably the bk9, maybe the bk4.

I'll drag mine out this week and check it for fit with the Mag Camp....the Combat Master really would be the best sheath upgrade!

Get a bk16 and an axe, that combo will handle just about anything

However if your wanting only one tool, I'd go with either the bk4 or 10

My set up
A BK 4 for chopping, splitting and heavy work with a BK 14/24 with the handles for a belt knife for small motor work

BK 4

The BK 4 chops as good as a hatchet

Batons knotty pine with ease

The front of the blade is narrow for very fine work

Checked the Camp with mine this morning.... Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Already stuck the Ontario into the BK Camp sheath! It was a old backup camping knife anyway Great idea upnorth!!!!!!:thumbup:

The EDC requirement limits selection, IMO. IF you have the sort of job / wardrobe where you can actually EDC a 16 (or 17 if you prefer the clip point), then that's the winner. If not, then BK11 or 14. I EDC my 11 and I've done everything with it from cleaning fish and small game, to butchering deer and making spoons / tools. It will get things done.

For self-defense - stop kidding yourself. Get a gun and learn how to use it.

To this I agree 110% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But, if you want a knife for SD, carry one of these with YOUR GUN !!!!

Then, when you get jumped, whisper to your knife "Stay put. I got this."😎

Seems like the 16 and the 2 got equal votes here. Which would you choose between the two?

Those knives are so different for what they are, I think this is one of those instances where circumstance dictates. One is a lightweight medium blade. And the other is a 1 lb tank. If you're looking for something that you EDC, it's probably the 16. If it's sitting in your BOB or your vehicle, maybe the 2. IMHO, it's a trade off between carrying ability and chopping ability.

In terms of straight-up superiority, there's not one. The 15 or the 9 or the 12 or others could just as easily be in this runoff. The only way to really know is to buy, use, and see where you gravitate.

My vote is for the bk16. It is everything would would need for a knife-specific task. If one wants to stretch the abilities of s blade to do more than what is reasonable. Go with a 2. It won't fail you and if you break it, you were going through hell. But worse comes to worst, maybe the tip will break but it will still cut. That's what's needed.

I strapped my BK2 on what I started the day yesterday morning. I live on 2 acres with about 50 trees scattered about. I used it to hammer a spinning target into the ground for a little target practice then I used it to clear some 1" OD limbs out of the way. Later that afternoon I used to to slice cheese and summer sausage to have with Margarita's. Just for grins I tried to make slices as thin as possible. The BK2 came through with flying colors on every task I ask of it. The heft of it caused me to know it was there but not uncomfortable walking or setting.

I also have a Hudson Bay axe. Those two items together would be the only tools I'd need in a survival situation.

Don't mean to high jack the threat but.... Well just need one knife that does all as a camp knife, paired with an ax and a mora.

The 5 never really appealed to me. I do have a 15 tho. I like it but I feel it has its limits.

I guess my real question is will the bk2 fit the bill for the do all camp knife/survival knife.(chop, baton, strike a firesteel, carve, feather stick, filet fish, skin small game exc.) or would a 16 do a better job of all this?

I suggested the 5 because you said you wanted a camp knife and were pairing it with an ax and a Mora. Sounds like you want a BK2 and just need a reason/nudge. I have BK2 and like it. Lots of guys love the BK2 and it's all they want/need.
