Best blade length

The only folder I carry is a SAK with a blade of 2.5".
EDC fixed .5" longer than my index finger.
At this lengh I can slide my index finger down near the blade tip and have added control for certain aplications. If I'm outdoors and need to chop wood I carry an ax or hatchet. If I need something for for defense I carry a pistol. Stephen

For normal edc, 3 inches is about the max I go with folders, although lately, I've been carrying and liking a 2 inch blade.

For fixed, I loooove gigantic bladed bowies and kukris, but find that for 'real-world' uses a 5 or 6 inch blade is most practical.

3ish" for my edc folder and around 3.5" for my work knife.
4-5" fixed.
The 3" folders are my fave though.

For a daily carry knife (fixed or folder) I prefer the main blade to be in the 2 to 4 inch range. Somewhere in the 2 to 3 inch range is perfect, but I will carry larger or smaller if I like the knife. My most commonly carried knives lately are a Queen canoe that's right at 2.25 on the main blade (1 5/8 on the pen blade) and a RAT Izula that comes in right at 2.5.

For general use fixed blades, I like a four inch blade, or a six inch blade. I'm not a fan of five inch blades because for my uses, they're too big for some things and too small for others. A five inch blade is very awkward to me.

For a folder somewhere around 3" to 3.5".

I like fixed blades of all lengths, but for a chopper my minimum is around 6-7".

For folders I prefer 3-3.5". Somtimes I dont mind a little bit longer blades if I'm hiking or fishing or something but 3.75" is about as big as I'll go for a folder. My absolute undisputed favorite is 3.3"

For fixed blades I usually like 5".
