Best 'Buck 110' Movie?

Well eh - I remember the stone age of the computer technology with the C64 and Sinclair - low tech for high price. But what's about the the old fashioned chemical photo lab? If they couldn't use a PC they retouched the picture to lengthen the blade by hand and to erease the nail nick :)

It is possible to change the apparent size or length of an object by positioning the different subjects in the photo, changing the camera angle or position, using a certain lens length, etc.
 
Matthew McConaughey carries and uses a 110 in "Mud". There is never a close-up shot of the knife, so it could be a copy, but it looks just like a 110. The sheath is unusual. It looks like feathers or fur sewn around the outside.

After wearing my Buck Knives thinking cap for a while thinking about the thread, here are a few more flicks that have a buck 110 present in all it's awesomeness. These are:

1- "In Search Of Bigfoot" 1975 - A documentary about the search for the elusive creature filmed around Mt. Saint Helens. One of the researchers carries and uses a mint 1960's Buck 110 throughout the film.

2- "At Play In The Fields Of The Lord" 1991 - Tom Berenger's character "Moon" wears a 110 in front on his belt.

3- "Striptease" - 1996 - Deme Moore's character is terrorized by her ex-husband brandishing a Buck 110 in a few scenes.

4- "Vertical Limit" -2000 - Chris O'Donnell's character Pete Garrett uses what appears to be a Buck 110 to cut the rope that attaches him to his father and sister which causes the last anchor to slowly detach from the rock fissure due to the weight.

5- "Red Dawn" - 1984 - Patrick Swayze's character, "Jed" carries a Buck 110 on his belt.

Now here's one regarding the Buck 112:

1- "The Thing" - 1982 - Richard Masur's character, "Clark" the dog handler carries and brandishes a 112 throughout the flick before his demise.

If I can think of any others, I'll post them..

Bah. I saw a movie over 40 year ago about the Battle of the Alamo (1836) where the "Texans" were using bolt action '03 Springfield repeating rifles (of WW II fame) instead of the single shot, flint lock rifles and cap lock rifles that actually existed in 1836. (note that in 1836, the US military was still issuing a flint lock musket. It was not until 1842 that they switched to the cap lock. They did not adopt a repeating rifle until the Kraig, in 1895, and standing orders of the day were to keep the magazine lock engaged (preventing cartridges in the magazine from being used) and to use it as a single shot; inserting a cartridge manually, after each shot!)

Hollywood rarely gets history right.

I'm watching, "Joe" Nicolas Cage is using his 110 to butcher, a deer. Now he's using it to cut a bullet out of his shoulder.

I may be way off. The movie "Cobra" with sly Stallone. The bad guy had a couple knives and at the end I thought he wrist flicked open a clip point folder (110?)
I had a case folder at the time that was a lock back that you could change out blades in it. I took a bastard file to the tang of the clip he'll bent on that wrist flick. All I did was ruin the blade.
If the movie or knife is inaccurate I apologize for the misinformation
 
In the movie Crash Matt Dillon uses a 110 to cut the seat belt and free a woman from a wrecked car.

I watched Longmire and I agree that the 110 was used in the majority scenes. I just finished the ten book series of Sheriff Longmire by Craig Johnson. I guess that "Buck 110" was too much to write about. In the books he used a Case. (Excellent read by the way. A lot of parallels to the movie but quite a bit different.)
