They are plenty on the used market though! Its a unique rig so I would really suggest getting your hands on one to try out. It has so many different feels about their standard Ranger model.

I'm late to this thread. Right now I have a USA Dean Soltero. However in the price range you quote and even comparing to even more expensive guitars you really can't go.wrong with a Carvin guitar they are essentially custom built out in California and you can choose just an unimaginable amount of custom options. Check out their website Ive owned some real beauties. Their quality is topnotch made in USA!!
I've owned a few and foolishly sold them but I fully endorse their gear. Best bang for your buck no dealer or middleman order direct from the factory and for 1500.00 dollars you have a guitar that would cost 5000.00 if it had gibson on the headstock, or pick them up with good deals for them on eBay or at the classified section of the carvin museum forums.
