Comrade,
Hang in there Man - you'll find the right one
I went through the same process you are going through a while back and decided on a BATAC - I am absolutely thrilled with it - best all around camp knife I have owned. (And I have owned a bunch of them from assorted manufacturers / and yes I do use it on a weekly basis)
Cuts well/Skins well/ batons well /prys well, and even chops well - it's perfect for an all around camp knife. -very comfortable with prolonged use (even more so than a Basic - which I had to experience to believe)
Check out the blade profile compared to the ADs or even the Meaners in comparison - that up sweep is perfect for skinning deer etc without risking cutting through the hide.
Someone mentioned that a lot of Busse need to be re-profiled to get the maximum cutting efficiency - this is true from my experience (have owned 3 so far)
It does take time to work it down - But - it is worth it & fun (at least to me).
Since I re-profiled it, it makes fuzz sticks / wood curls as well as my Sebenza (both of which have been re-profiled) - that is amazing!
The curls are almost transparent they are so thin - not kidding.
Just was using it last week on some oak - and it caught off a Firesteel.
Another awesome thing about that model is if you check out the handle -it is curved a little toward the end - when you can ad a 55o cord wrist lanyard it is the perfect width to get a strong grip for your index finger to your palm - and you will be amazed at how well it chops for it's size with that set up due to the overall weight and profile of the blade.
Check em out.
