PBF seems pretty pointy to me

The angle on the tip was set at 40 degree's per side, if not higher for the actual cutting edge. I had to do a lot of tilting/rolling to get a final edge on it. At 40 degree's per side your looking at something very close to a 90 degree angle (corner of a square). If I wanted to drop it to 30 degree's, the bevel would have been even taller, probably overtaking 1/2 or more of the primary grind of the knife.

Pointy looking? yes. Good at penetrating heavy materials like leather? Not as much. The custom shop versions with heavily thinned edges like the one you're showing here are an exception, I'm referring to the stock cg models.
