Best "CHINA" Buck !!

I think there are several steels used on the import knives, I've seen 420J2,420HC, 440A, and 440C listed as blade steel. The few I've used retain a cutting edge well.

Good point, I was thinking about 420HC only, since that's what was asked about. But they are using 440A and 420J2 on some, not sure about 440C anymore. I haven't used any of the 440A stuff yet, hopefully those that have will chime in! :D
 
Thanks. I thought this was maybe possible because it sounded difficult to me to do the heat treat exactly the same in both country's.

I know Paul Bos organises the heat treat in the USA, but I didn't know if he was able to oversee it in China too.

There was a post by CJ some time ago where he mentioned that heat treat is the one area where imported Bucks are not quite as good as those made in Idaho.
