Best Cold Weather Food ?

That is the truth! Lots of shredded cheese to put on your bowl too. Chili and grilled cheese sandwiches for next days lunch or dinner ( a glad break from the kitchen:D )

Excellent choice! I'm actually having it for dinner tonight. Expected low temp for this evening = 15° F. :D

I love chili over rice. Shredded cheddar goes real good with that.

When I used to walk home from work in New York, I would sometimes stop halfway at a Wendy's and get a baked potato with chili and cheese. Great way to survive those winter winds roaring down the avenue at me!

Too late for that tonight ... I just ate. :(

:D :D :D

Chili is a top contender, but pot roast is right up there.

A nice cut of meat crocked for 8 hours with spices and onions and carrots. That's what I'm talkin' 'bout. Served with hot biscuits and butter, its a tasty meal.

This week we are having a heat wave, into the 20s. Last week it was -10 one day and -6 the next when I left the house. For some reason, there was nobody else on the jogging path but me...

Chili's good, but I like it over angel hair spaghetti noodles, rather than in a bowl.

Pork roast with pork gravy and mashed spuds.

Meatloaf with twice-baked potatoes.

Then we get into the endless array of hotdishes, I especially like one made with baked beans, ground beef, and bacon.

Don't forget breakfast too, gotta fuel up for the day.

Lentil soup. :D

Smoked salmon. Serve it on something hot like a bagel or put it in pasta. I made a sandwich with it today in fact.

Or behave like a redneck I know - shoot an annoying raccoon and make a stew with it(!).

Strong coffee is always a good choice as a beverage.

Chili.HOT CHILI.Served Hot.Lotsa' red chiles, very small slices of habanero or hungarian hots, one or the other, never both together.YOU CRAZY!Saltine crackers, large glass of milk.Perfect nutrition.Don't forget chili powder and cayenne pepper.

Winter is the time to heat the kitchen up.

Good chili needs to cook for hours. You can't do that in the summer. Soups that simmer for hours, pot roasts and great rib roast, legs of lamb served with baked potatos, turkeys and chickens stuffed and roasted, big hams... now these are the slow-cooked foods of winter.

Summer grills out, does a quick saute', or maybe just has a salad or cold plate. But winter cooks slowly with real heat.

though i love venison chili, my fav food when its cold outside is Indian food ie from India, nothing tastes better to me when its cold, oddly enough its not anywhere near my fav in warm weather go figure.

Venison chili is the best kind of chili, but for ice cold nights, I go with beef stew. A big crockpot full, with kale, and a little bit of sourcream thrown into your own bowl. A little salt and a lot of pepper, and a hot roll. Top it off with a big cup of hot tea (dont' drink coffee anymore), and that's a good meal.

For real meals, microwaved leftover meatloaf is good too.
