Best EDC folder?

I usually suppliment my main fixed blade with either a Queen trapper or a GEC Cuban stockman. Both can be had for well under $100.00. In fact, both can be had for under $100.00. The GEC also comes in 1095. I might have to add a GEC Scout into the pile when I get my income tax return.

i decided to go with a byrd cara cara as i saw one at a local yardsale. i love it! I have decided to get my dad a good knife for fathers day. U guys the tenacious would be good? Of course id also have to order myself one also lol. I think he would like a good folder.

the byrd series knives are the best bang for the buck out there. They are SOLID built knives with a descent blade steel that sharpens easily, holds it well, and doesnt rust easily. If it didnt say china on the blade, you'd never imagine that it was made there, or that you paid less than $30 for it.

I have a Tenacious. It is a frequent EDC for me. I highly recommend it!

I don't have a lot of experience with high quality folders, but for a few months I've been edcing a KA-BAR Dozier Design drop point hunter. It's a great knife for costing less than 20 bucks. The knife is so slim and light that I don't even notice it in my pocket. The blade holds a great edge and comes shaving sharp out of the box. I'm sure its no Griptilian or Spyderco, but it's a far sight better than the mall ninja and Smith and Wesson crap I used to carry. So far it's done everything I've asked of it.

+1 on the Griptillian.

Over on WS&S the most common answers to this are usually: BM Griptillian, Spyderco Military and Paramilitary, Buck 110 and 112, and CRK Sebenzas.

Well... I have a gawd awful number of folders... but my EDC choice for one tends to be a Kershaw Mini Cyclone more then anything else. Solid, well built folder, more of a drop point then a lot out there (I like Drop Point blades). Lightning fast open assist that can be disabled to conform to local laws. Great knife.

My KaBar Dozier is a decent blade, cheap, but works well, as does the KaBar WartHog. Both are pretty easy on the wallet, but work great. The Dozier carries well in pocket or on belt. The Ontario RAT folder is pretty good too.

None of these are anything fancy, just simple functional blades.

For pure practical designs and no-nonsense functionality, from the kitchen, to the farm, to the garage, I wholeheartedly recommend:

Spydie's Endura
Boker+ CLB-designed M-Type

There are plenty in that price range. Can you get to a shop having a large collection will be my advise!

Only Locking folder I carry is a Blade-Tech Professional Hunter ,S30v USA ,best folder That I own...had several spyderco's & a few benchmade all gone....

WOW so many great suggestions...+1 on the paramilitary...I think I paid around $116 for mine. The RAT model is nice too if you can find an early model before Ontarios production standards went crap, I have one and I love it. I carry my RAT3 tied to belt with a piece of 550 cord but instead of pocket carry I tuck it IWB, it works great, very comfortable. I am surprised no one has mentioned a the SAK farmer as a great edc folder.

I carry a Kershaw Leek with the composite D2 blade if I'm staying in civilization since it will do just about everything urban life can throw at it. For anything heavier like when I'm hiking or such I go for my RC-3

I carry a Chris Reeve Mnandi in Cocobolo as everyday-wear... its small enough not to be alarming and is very attractive. When I want to carry something more beefy (like when fishing or hiking) I carry a Spyderco Manix. It's closer to a fixed-blade (well - as much as you can get in a folder) since California restricts carry of fixed blades much more than folders.

I have had an Emerson CQB7 wave for years and it works alright. I have cursed the chisel grind when I have needed to cut some slices quite often though. I also really like my CS ultimate hunter which is a very good design. The major problem is since I have gotten two Izula's I have not carried either of the other two....

I know this is old school but I really like my buck 112. I just slide it in my back pocket. Most of the time if I have my Rat-3 on my belt or front left pocket I still have the 112.

My choice would be a Ritter Griptilian from aeromedix.com, a little over 100 though, 118.00 to be exact plus shipping.

And if you really want to spruce it up, get some Wilkins grips from moorecutlery.com
