Best EDC Knives?

Trying to find a knife under $80 if possible i really want a half serrated tanto blade also im not a fan or spyderco i just dont like the look of theirnknives to be honest haha

Might want to try one and see how it feels to you... I like their G10 better than the FRN of the Grip, but I have a Grip because I prefer the axis lock and also thumb studs over the spydie hole... but lots of people really like the hole so you should try it before ruling it out.

Ok thanks for the input haha if i was to get a spyderco i'd want one of their less roundded blades like the tenacious or something of that sort

Vinny,

Thanks, that helps us narrow it down considerably.
Whoever you go with, please keep warranty and reputation in consideration.
Have you checked out the Spyderco website?...they have more styles to pick from than what you would think, (probably hundreds) a fantastic warranty, and excellent steel!
I'll l shut up now, but hang tight and look forward to hearing some more great recommendations. Again, thanks for coming by Blade Forums, hope you'll stick around ;)

Barrabas message me privately? You've helped a ton i appreciate all your insight and wouldlove to hear more from you

If you have a specific brand that would fit those guidlines of strong folding blades have serrated tanto or a few recomendations that wouldpoint my research in the right direction im all ears haha

Thanks for the advice im looking for a folder that is sturdy and durable i forgot im on a knife forum your definition of rough and mine are a bit different haha considering im used to shitty knives with weak blades just looking for a good folder what is the folding knife you have in that picture?

Hi Vinnypb33, and welcome to BF. Looking for the best EDC is something most of us have been doing for years, and probably found a lot of knives that work well. What you do in your daily routine will affect the type of folder that works best for you, so you'll get a million different answers.

Here are some knives under $80 that I like, they are tough enough for anything you might need a pocket knife for.

-Spyderco Endura (Delica if you want something smaller). For about $70 you get a very decent steel (VG-10), relatively light weight, good ergonomics and a great company standing behind it. The Native and Manix 2 lightweight are great options, too.

-Cold Steel American Lawman, Voyager, Recon 1, Tuff Lite, etc. Tough knives with a ridiculously strong lock (Tri-Ad, look it up), AUS-8 steel is not the latest and greatest but it's good enough for EDC. They are affordable, too. A Voyager will cost you $40 or so.

-Kershaw Knockout and Blur, or any Kershaw in your price range for that matter. I'm rather fond of the Blur, my S30V model gets a ton of use (and assisted opening is fun).

Wow thank you francisco that helped tons haha are sog knives good for edc too? Just curious of i should rule them out or not just yet ive heard great things about spyderco kershaw and cold steel as well my father owned one from when he was in the navy

Vinny,

I have owned a few SOGs, but haven't bought any in years...the one pictured above was the only one I really liked, or frankly felt was worth the money.
Francis gave some excellent recommendations, that oughta keep you busy for a while :).
Feel free to email me if you need anything else, donlemego.now@gmail.com.

Just be warned, There are a few jerks around here, but a good majority of the folks remember we have all asked these same questions at some point; (and if we're honest, the most experienced here still would admit we are all still learning, together) you'll get some excellent suggestions from a lot of viewpoints, just have some tough skin, and keep your options open..important thing is you find what YOU need.

I handled a lot of SOGs (I had a knife store) and owned a couple, they were disappointing. Overpriced for the materials and endemic bladeplay, not my cup of tea. Some of their models are cool, but in my opinion quality is not there.

I read that if put through water the spring will rust badly and need to be replaced...this is where the durable part of y search comes into play

For under 80 I like the spyderco dragonfly 2 with zdp-189 steel.

If you want to spend around 200 I'd grab my new personal favorite spyderco southard.

I carry a BM 3550 everyday.

If auto's are not allowed I carry a BM 525.

Have used the BM 755 MPR as well - tough little knife.
