Best everyday victorinox?

For me, it's been the Super Tinker (3 layers). If you don't need the Phillips screwdriver or hook, then you might look at the Compact (2 layers).

I'm going to have to suggest the Cadet as well.
It is light, thin, with just the basics for tools.

I often carry just a Cadet II Plus (or Micro-Farmer) from SwissBianco.

Another vote for the Alox Cadet. It's only two layers which makes it very thin, yet it has very useful tools on it.

I just got my first Victorinox as an adult, a one-hand Trekker/Classic SD combo. The Classic went right on my keyring, and unusually for me it didn't come off an hour later.

The Trekker is awesome, but I think I should have gone for a regular Trekker, since I love the woodsaw and the fingerhole hump just feels hazardous to me. It also made me want a trimmer, lighter SAK, so I ordered a Cadet and Electrician, both Alox. They rock, when I have one of my SAKs on me they usually find plenty of opportunity to get out and help with small tasks. The Cadet is like having nothing in your pocket, which is what I was hoping for, and the Electrician is sweet, love the inline 93mm reamer.

I have carried a compact for years until I finally scored a Swiss Bianco Yeoman with the plus scales... The inline phillips driver was what prompted the change... only 3 layers and has some of the most useful tools...

Me too on the Swiss Bianco Yeoman Plus thing. In my view, its at just the right place on the sliding scale of size vs. utility.

I rate a compact knife very high and as they have the tools I need, I opt for either a Mini Tinker or a Spartan for EDC.

Here my Tinker with titanium slabs.

I prefer the spartan or its little brother the sportsman. Carried a tinker for years though and it was great.

Cadet, Climber, Tinker, Super Tinker, Sparten.. but everyone needs a Classic on the keychain.

Really depends on the tools you like.

I have yet to understand why the Vic Classic is so popular. Maybe it is the knife that is a knife when you don't have another one. I just bought one. Probably not going to use it. Cute little thing in Alox.

The regular Tinker/Soldier size makes a lot of sense. As mentioned above, not too big and not too small. Carried a regular Tinker for years and it was in fact my introduction to SAKs.

But I tend to like a bigger folder that I can use and my choice has been the Adventurer. I also have a one handed Trekker (plain), and about 10-12 other ones.

But I decided to dump the large SAK (I think) in favor of a better traditional (GEC) and carry a small SAK that contains my most used tools (toothpick and Tweezers) other than the cutting blade. Hence the reason for the Classic purchase but being stupid I believed the description by the retailer that the Alox Classic contained the toothpick and tweezers. I knew better, but I believed it and I really like the Alox scales. So, I just picked up a small Wenger and I'm evaluating that one for practicality of size in addition to the larger GEC folder in my pocket. The Bantam was the other candidate for the GEC/SAK pocket duo.

More than likely, I will be rotating for a while between the large GEC/SAK combination, SAK Adventurer, and a Spydie Delica until the dust settles and I choose. Then there is the small fixed blade EDC.... IT NEVER ENDS!

I have yet to understand why the Vic Classic is so popular.

For times when I forgot or couldn't carry a knife, that little puppy bailed me out more than a few times. It's handy and unobtrusive.. don't really know it's there. In fact most times I forget I've got it on my keys.

Either the Cadet or the Pioneer. I actually switched from Cadet to Pioneer because the Pioneer is still small enough and is a lot sturdier.
If you want scissors and tweezers you can add a key chain Victorinox as well.
I actually have one with a pen, tweezers and scissors.

Picked up my first one at Christmas. Made my decision by discounting as many tools I wouldn't use as possible, ended up with a Spartan.:)

I now want a Spartan with scissors.:D
