The only changes I've made are to tidy up the webbing ends and change the ATS pouch for Maxpedition's new 6x9 padded pouch for the binocular.

oh im very interested.. and I saw many sabercat and almost everyone mod it.. funny! distributing the weight over the shoulder..

I really like your setup.. first time I see a picture that incorporate so many feature i was looking for.. i would throw an ESEE knife on the shoulder strap maybe..

just for the heck of it...

1) As others have said, get a Mountain Smith lumbar pack - out here in Seattle there are two used gear shops that frequently have an older model available for cheap - the newer models, IMHO, aren't made to the same standards as they were before P. Smith sold the line. Mine has two web bottle pockets that can carry large water bottles/cups and enough space to carry everything you mentioned plus rain gear and a fleece easily and stabily.

2) On the cheap? Go to your favorite Army/Navy Surplus store and get a web belt, butt pack and one or two cantten kits, depending on how much water you want to take, and an extra utility pouch to carry whatever...

All the other suggestions have merit, but they are more expensive than these two...

Just depends on the image you want to convey...

I can't personally, at least not comfortably. I'm only 5'8 tall though; if you're taller, you might be able to.

I tried it with my Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II which is the smallest backpack I have and the sabrecat was too high when in a comfortable position, causing the Falcon to be pushed up annoyingly when I walked. I could let the Sabrecat ride lower on the straps but it's not comfortable to use like that for me. Nearly, but not quite.

Like I say though, if you're taller than me you might get away with it; or if you have a backpack that rides higher up. YMMV :D

I was wondering if you guys knew of a good belt pouch. Didn't want to start a new thread since what I'm looking for is pretty much a small fanny pack.

I've seen the Maxpedition pouches, like the Three-by-Five and similar. Though they aren't really something I could wear to work without it really standing out. Not sure if anyone knows of a nondescript pouch of some sort. Luckily phones are making their way to the belt, so this isn't completely out of the ordinary. Hoping there is something out there.

I use a compact camera case for daily EDC. It's a Samsonite in leather and looks smart enough. Size is about 5" x 3.5" x 1.5". There are a lot of sizes available though...

Edit: Found the thread! Check here, a few posts down:

Thanks for the info and the link! Can't believe you found the thread lol. I'm having a tough time finding something I like and won't stand out a ton. I work with fools unfortunately and I know the second I wear something like in I'll get a million questions. Not used to wearing a pouch either.

Lately, I wanted something that didn't scream, "I HAVE A HANDGUN IN THIS BLACK BAG!" So, on the advice of ROCK6, I obtained an EMDOM Recon Waist Bag/Pack. Very, very rugged little pack!

+1 Maxpedition bags and other military bags in OD and Black "read" CCW. Whether you carry or not, you are going to "read" like you are carrying to everyone who sees you. I carry and I use a purple Patagonia fanny pack on the trail. Around here it reads "cllimber" "trail rat" or even "woods geek", but not CCW.

My feeling is that even reading like you are carrying, whether you are or not, sets you up for people making assumptions about you, and possibly bad guys making pre-emptive strikes. Like the "shoot me first" tactical vests. YMMV
