Check out the fixed blades for sale in the Maker's area and also google the above makers to find their web pages. You might be surprised but you can get a lot of knife for $100 and have it made to your specs.
 
A Kellam Knives Wolverine or Helle knives from Ragnars Forge. Scandanavian blades are very good for hunting and camping. They are rugged, stainless steel, and ergonomic. They are also razor sharp, and keep on cutting for a long time without sharpening. All this and under a $100.
