Best "Flipper"

My favorite has always been the CRKT M16-04.

Well, it all depends on what price range you are talking about. If you are talking about any price, hands down, Phil Boguszewski makes the best flipper, period. It is really hard to get a small blade to flip because there is no mass to really get going, but all of Phil's knives flip with the greatest of ease. If you flip one, you will agree.

The Buck Vantage is amazingly smooth- especially for a knife at that price.
They really need some texture on that flipper though, and it could be just a little bit bigger and better angled for easier flipping. I find it a bit tough to flip with. I tend to shred fingernails when I flip it.

Pretty much any of the Kershaw flippers are great. I personally own a Chive, a Shallot, a Leek, an Oso Sweet, and two RAMs (the original and the newer one with the slightly better steel) and love 'em all.

I've played with an OD-1, an OD-2, a Whirlwind, a Cyclone, a Blur, and a Needs Work, and had no problems with any of them either. And I've heard great things about the Groove and the Volt (I WILL get one, I swear).

There are Volt blems in the dealer subforum on the exchange and new ones on eBay.

Ha, I knew I shouldn't have started this thread, I just ordered a Kershaw volt. I need to save my money! This site is for some reason against me doing that.

I'll add another vote for the Kershaw Groove. Very solid knife and excellent value for money. For the price of some of the other recommendations, you could buy both the drop point and tanto versions.

I second RJ Martin. I have had several flippers that really used a flick of the wrist, in addition to the flipper. I finally got myself a RJ Martin Q36, and this knife is a madman! The flipping action is super smooth, just a flick of the finger, and the blade flys out!

I have to agree with 2brothers: JYD2, Groove or Lahar. Martin and Gaylean are one of my favorite Kershaw Designers and their flippers are sooooo smooooth!

My favorite flippers come from Todd Begg, RJ Martin(He uses his own system.) & Tim Galyean. I LOVE IKBS.

JYD II D2 Composite. Got a blem here for 45$ and I am fairly convinced it's the best folder per dollar I've ever seen. Flips quicker'n Obama & Kerry in a tag team match...

I own half a dozen CRKT M16s that flick, click, & snick, forthwith, but those are TOWN knives, not serious working blades..

The Kershaw Leek or Chive is assisted opening, and the best flippers I own.

I can open them just as fast as an automatic, and that is not hyperbole or exaggeration.

I preload some tension in my finger on the top of the knife and then slide down onto the flipper- kind of like getting a running start at it. I find I need to do this with most flippers (except the RAM). I like the lower profile because I don't like the flipper sticking out into my pocket space.
