I've been into "unassisted-assist" flippers since their introduction as the Tim Galyean designed Kershaw JunkYard Dog series -
that is flippers that can fully open the blade with just finger actuation - and (virtually) no wrist movement.
I was very impressed with both the original Kershaw JYD and JYD2 -

But if one reads my JYD review I (and others) had some initial difficulties with fully opening the blade on the smaller JYD with only finger actuation. We had to be conscious of, and concentrate on, opening - then it would work fine, almost all the time - I liked it enough that the JYD became my at home EDC.
The wrinkle for me was that although I had success with the larger JYD2 right from the start - once I got used to the smaller JYD - I found occassionally I did not open the JYD2 fully - so they are good, but there is some inconsistency (mostly me) here.
Then the next "generation" came out with the Kershaw RAM designed by Grant & Gavin Hawk - its actuation was just slightly different to the previous flippers - but boy! was it positive once one got it - not only that with only very little practice one could also close the knife one-handed too (unfortunately probably only for right-handers as the lock lever is on side for the right-hand only)
So if I was voting back when I got used to this - the RAM would be it.

Another small incremental "genration" came in the shape of the Kershaw RJ Martin designed Zing - with a good one, it's everything I imagined a flipper ought to be - slight rewind - what's that? a "good one"? Yes, unfortunately variations in samples - the blaze orange one I have really opens very positively with almost no chance of a flip that doesn't open the blade fully - I think it's merely that it is harder to over come the ball-bearing detent so allowing more build up of finger pressure. The black one I have also opens very positively - but it is just not quite as good as the blaze orange sample.
So far a tie with the RAM - blaze orange Zing better and black Zing not quite as good. I would have considered the blaze orange sample of the Zing "best" up to this point.

Then I wasn't paying much attention until I saw and tried the CRKT Ken Onion designed Eros and Ripple - boy was I surprised - I thought one couldn't get much better than a good Kershaw Zing like my blaze orange sample - but like almost all things - they can and do improve.
I'm not sure if these CRKT Ken Onion IKBS flippers are any more positive than my better Kershaw Zing - but they feel and act better - smoother and from the two samples I have - an Eros and the smaller Ripple 2 they are both as positive as the better Zing in terms of opening - but it terms of smoothness both CRKT's win.
So picking a winner now I would suggest the CRKT Ken Onion Eros - just because I prefer the materials and design - but the CRKT Ripple 2 and Ripple are just as good in terms of the flipper action.
