Best flippers

Shirogorov
Curtiss
Hinderer

I've consistently heard that Thorburn's knives have awesome action as well. Haven't owned one before though.

Of all the flippers I've handled so far shiro takes the cake.

Buck marksman

is the best flipper I've ever handled

over 5000 deployments and no pivot tightening needed.

flipped and used all day I needed to tighten once at the end of the day but no blade play at all

Andre Thorburn's flippers fire beautifully, and glide like snot on glass.

I get a little depressed when I read stuff like this... Canadian customs has just recently been cracking down on flippers. I tried importing a shirogorov and they denied entry claiming it was an automatic. I'm assuming if I tried the same with a Thorburn it would be the same thing. I'd love to pick one up though.

My two best are the Rick Lala sentry and the GTC F-Supersonic !

Two very different feelings , the IKBS feels like a crossbow, while the GTC bearings are more like a gunshot.

ZT0801 is the best flipper I have seen so far.
And for the price it has premium material and very good ergonomics.
I recommend the BW finish that is very nice.

My Boker kwaiken is hands down my best flipper.

Ya know, everyone keeps saying ZT, but my 452 has issues if I don't grab it just right, and I've heard other ZT's do the same thing, to the point I'm reluctant to buy another one. Are there ZT models I can buy that have no grip issues?

Liner lock models are the ZT0350 and ZT0200 which I rotate in my edc. I had the same problems with my ZT0452. But I did have to hold it just so. Still have it but don't use it much. I don't have any problems with my ZT0300 but it is a brute.

Smoothest I've had is the Shiro NeOn. My Bodega and ZT 0450CF are nice too.

The whole 'smooth flipper' thing is something that has improved by leaps and bounds in the last few years. I have $50 knives (someone mentioned Real Steel Sea Eagle) and $1000 knives that honestly feel the same in the smoothness Dept.

I find it very difficult to pick a best one.

My ZT's are great flippers. My first was a Spyderco Brad Southard which flips really well.
Just recently I purchased a Kizer Kyre with G10 scales and a VG10 steel. I am very impressed with the quality of this knife and find it is one of the best flippers especially at it's price point. Would recommend this solid knife to anyone. It has been my EDC for over a month and am not looking to switch any time soon.

The smoothest flipper I have ever held, requiring no effort is a Ken Onion Ripple. I gave it to my Son a few weeks ago. He was like "Holy Cow!" that's fast.

Try what I do with my 452 bro.
Put your middle finger in the cut out on the lock bar. This way it is impossible for you to put pressure on it.
My 452 flips like it is assisted......every time! I also love the sound it makes on lock up!
Give it a shot!

I try that all the time. Sometimes I get it right off; sometimes I just have too many fingers. I handled a 450 before ordering the 452 and it was great - no issues at all. I may eventually get one, though I prefer larger blades. I was thinking of the 200 which, because it's a liner lock would have no issues, but I love the look of the 804 (though it's out of my price range). Other contenders are the 0095, 909, and 0560.

I do have a nice CRKT Sampa that flips great as well! You think smaller blades flip better than larger ones in general?

All depends on the particular knife.
My 450 flips like a champ, as long as you don't put any pressure on the lock bar.
My Brous Bionic, same size blade, so so.
Too many fingers sounds like a serious issue brother!![emoji1][emoji1]
