Best folder under $100?

The first knife that I thought of when I read the title of your post is one of my favorite every day knives the SOG Pentagon Elite II. Then I read your post and realized that this folder with its 5" blade fit the price criteria but is too big for your size criteria. However SOG also makes this knife in a smaller size. This might be just the ticket. One really useful feature of the Arc-Lock on these folders is that they allow quick and easy one handed opening and closing.

This is the correct picture of the Pentagon Elite. On the SOG website the photo shown on the PE page is actually the PE II. The easiest way to tell them apart is the PE has its clip on the pivot end of the handle and the PE II has its clip mounted on the tip end when closed. This makes the PE II carry tip up and the PE carry tip down.

Knife Works sells the Pentagon Elite for $63.

Great input so far, fellas!

So far, I'm liking the looks of Microtech Mini UDT, followed by the Benchmade 700 series, and the Spyderco line has some very nice lines as well, as I like the look of the Lum models. Any input on the Chinese Folder would be appreciated.

Since I'm used to carrying the Kershaw Vapor, would the Kershaw Avalance be a logical improvement? Or is it nothing more that the Vapor with an open assist feature?

You can get a sweet Benchmade 806D2 for just over $100 or, few just a few bucks more, a Benchmade 710HS (when the discount online places restock).

Right now, I'm carrying the new S30V Spyderco Native that's $84 shipped from the factory and will be $50-65 + s/h elsewhere soon.

Those suggestions about the AG Russell D2 steel version of the Camillus EDC sound great, too.

If you are going to be wearing slacks and dress nice I have a Benchmade 690 that I love and is what I use when wearing slacks or dressed up.It is beautiful and it can be found for just about 20 to 30 bucks over a hundred. Besides being one nice looking knife it is sharp light and works well with slacks with its paddle like clip.Just my opinion and I know it is over a hundred but for a little more it is worth it.................R Here it is for $130 http://www.quickknife.com/ben69comborc.html

THere have been some great suggestions so far and I doubt I can really add anything, but it is difficult to go wrong with any of the Axis Lock Benchmades. The D2 Camillus EDC is another great suggestion, and I think the VG 10 steel that Spyderco uses is great stuff. It looks like you're going to have a difficult decision to make Farmboy!

By now, with your experience with your CRKT and your Kershaw Vapor, you've got a good idea of how bid/small of a blade you need. One thing you may not be thinking of is weight.

My biggest gripe (If we could call it that) with the knives I carry is how heavey they are... hence I've been carrying lighter and light knives. If you carry every day you'll appreciate the lighter weight on knives like the Spyderco Endura. Its also very flat and easy to tuck in a waistband.

But My current favorite is the Benchmade Griptilian (<4" 440c).Very light, strong, and comfortable to carry and use, its with me now all the time. The gentle curves of the handle don't catch on clothes or cause undo wear on your pants. With a little practice, it can be open in a flash too.

But for around $100, you can get a great nuber of high quality knives. The Gerber Walker folder (4" ATS 34 Blade) is great, bigger, and primo steel.

I carry knives every day, and found that heavier ones can be a drag. =)

Good hunting!

While I loke many SOG knives, I found the Pentagon folder to be poor for strength of the lock up. Later stability on the model I used was very poor, and I never had the confidence in its lockup to feel safe using it.

Fo a great knife with the Arc Lock, The Vision series does a much better job all around for only a few bucks more, depending on model.

Man, you're not kiddin'. You guys have been great, and I feel like I'm running down 50 streets at once!

A question about two specific models, (and they are on oppisite ends of the spectrum)

1. The Microtech Mini UDT
2. The Spyderco Kiwi.

They're different, but both have a lot of class, at least from where I'm looking. Any opinions on these?
