There are plenty of great folders for under $250. Read the above responses and choose one.

Pull one of these suggestions out of your pocket and other k ife guys will take notice.
However, if you have the patience to delay gratification for a while, there are other options. At $250 you are half way to higher level options. If you can delay gratification long en ought, you can get one of the Chris reeve offerings for around $500 USD. Either the Sebenza 31 (large r small) or perhaps the more robust Incosi. Unlike the Wiliam Henry knives, these are not man jewelry with a pocket clip. The CRK line up are all knives that are designed, created and ment to be used.

Some here will point out that there are less exp[ensive folders made with the same or similar materials and in a similar design (Ti frame lock, Magnacut etc) but the CRK line up are premium knives made to an unmatched level of precision . . .and backed up with great customer service.

There are other knife makers in that class. Other posters here will tell you all about them

The point is, that if you can wait and save, you could have a great knife.

Just n update...I started this thread an recently bought the ZT Zero Tolerance Rick Hinderer 0562cf.

I appreciate all the help and suggestions.

I'm also very tempted to purchase the Viper Moon...probably very soon.

Thanks again.

Westpark, thank you for updating us! So many of these threads (almost all of them) end with silence from the original poster, that it starts to feel like we're shouting in the Void. It's refreshing to know that we've been able to provide advice, at least on what not to buy.

Also, if you are so inclined, we like pictures, and there are many great threads where you can post some, and be inspired by other people's pictures to put a lot of your hard-earned money into more knives......

I own a lot of different knives, for under $250 you can’t go wrong with Spyderco. Now it’s up to you which model you will prefer, if you can get your hands on Shaman Z-Wear, CruCarta or even PM2 or PM3 you can’t go wrong. My choice is PM3 Cru-Wear but again it’s my choice, excellent knife made in USA and Spyderco’s heat treat is on point! Good luck dude ! In my pocket today lolIMG_9308.jpeg

It's really nice to get an update, great choice Westpark :)

I started reading the thread today and was gonna suggest a Spyderco Bodacious, maybe you'll still want to have a look at one, for me it's the knife that stopped me from looking at or wanting other knives, it's that good (in my eyes :))

I added some Rock scale Design scales to mine. It really is a great knife for sure

Remette Agile Falcon DLC, It's currently my knife of the year so far, killer ergo's, drop dead gorgeous fit and finish and Guillotine drop shut action OTB along with a very useful blade shape.

As a newbie in the knife world...I greatly appreciate the all the opinions and suggestions from this forum.

I'm very happy with my new ZT 0562cf. For some reason it didn't come with the belt clip which is very important to me.

I couldn't find any on Ebay, so I reached out to Zero Tolerance. There sending me one for free. Apparently their customer service is extremely good.

I also found out they will sharpen ZT knifes for free if you walk into there facility. Unfortunately I'm nowhere near Oregon, but what a great company.

Also, as stated above I love this knife. However I would like a more grittier handle on my next purchase. The CF is a little slick at times.

The build quality though is incredible. Gorgeous blade, thicker , and sharp as hell. I use my EDC knife everyday, so at times it takes some abuse.

Again....Thanks so much for all the wisdom and expertise lended by this forum.

I'm glad you are enjoying your ZT, they make a great knife! If you come across a 0620/30/40 they are all fantastic as well.

For your next work knife, if you re looking for great value for a worker, consider the Cold Steel Recon1, or the CS American Lawman. Another consideration is the CS Ultimate Hunter. I ve used all three for extensive outdoor work and they all seem indestructible. All can be found for half your stated budget price. The seem indestructible. The customer service of the new company owners hasn't t been an issue for me because the knives need no customer service.

If I had $250 to spend on a utility/SD folder I'd get this HOKC or similar designed by Alexander Biryukov - made in China, 4.8 inch D2 steel blade, G10 handle. Super smooth pivot. I bought mine (no pocket clip) on the Big River for less than $30 awhile back. Some of them have pocket clips. For $250 you could probably buy four. There are various models out there, just search HOKC and Alexander Biryukov.

They will sharpen if you ship to them. They treat it as a warranty service so you need to get a RA. According to the site it is a two week turnaround. I would sharpen it myself as it is a valuable skill.

Everything suggested above are good options and I am glad you found what you liked.

I go against the grain and suggest a Buck 110 Auto Elite. Very classy, fun and super useful. If Autos are OK in your state.
