Best folding knife as a gift to a girl

I've gently probed for years and finally found a knife The Chef will actually carry and like.
She has, and has carried, several longer / larger knives from Opinel to lock backs. Doesn't take long and she leaves them at home.
This does it for her :
Spyderco Ladybug in purple FRN

This is mine in British Racing Green and ZDP-189. She doesn't need that kind of steel and didn't care for the green as much as the purple and I like the green much better so there you go.
Do get one for yourself as well. I used mine at work a couple of times today.

Tried to get my wife to carry one, she refuses. She will just ask me for whatever I'm carrying if she needs a knife. The only ones I've gotten positive comments on are the Delica and my Lionsteel Roundhead.

My wife is a 0% knife person. At least she started that way. So far I have given her:

Mora Companion

Marttini Pelican

Svord Peasant:

Buck Bantam

And finally a Colt "Damascus" folding knife.

Out of all these she liked the Colt the most I seem to recall. But she has used the Svord the most simply because I have it hanging from a kitchen cabinet and it is easily accessible. The Mora she has also used a lot because it is the sharpest.

My wife doesn't care about knives and I dig them. We live and let live in domestic detente. If I gave her a knife as a present... she'd kick me right in the jimmies for buying her something I liked rather than something I thought she might like. YMMV.

^This. Lol that's why I probably won't give her another knife for a while.

Do you really like using pink knives? She will most likely chose one of your knives anyway.

This is why I love my girl so damn much and will never let her go. She loves when I include and share with her the things that I love. I took her shooting once, she pretty much hated it, but she got up a plugged away with my 15-22, was just happy to partake in something I love. I give her knives and made her a BOB and she just loves that I'm thinking about her when I'm doing the things I love.

She says that it tells her that, no matter what I'm doing, it's clear I'm always thinking of her, even when I have every reason to be focusing on something else. Makes her feel extremely important and loved. And she is!

The beauty of a foreign girl, they aren't the typical over privileged American chick whose been up on the pedestal men placed them on for so long that they actually believe they belong there and act like the crown not only fits, but could use a few more jewels to suit their proper value, with an indiscriminate view as to who supplies the gems, just so long as they get them. I was very certain I would never find a mate or settle down, until my girl came along. Thank goodness El Salvador is such a bad place to live.

You were thinking she wouldn’t notice whether it was supersteel right? Well, since you’re not gonna have the patience(if you’re like most men) to show her how to sharpen, my guess is if she actually uses it you will have to sharpen both yours and hers. So you might as well hand her the premium steel knife unless you want her to complain that her knife “won’t cut.” You can sharpen your vg10 blade whenever you have a minute, but she won’t complain for weeks if you do the selfless (what is zdp an extra $10-15?)thing and give her the one you bought for her in the first place. Enjoy your purple knife!

I don’t know you but I am proud of you. One thing spanish girls won’t tolerate is a non-earning husband—or roving eyes, especially here in the US, and don’t forget to buy her actual jewelry once ina while as well!

My advice concerning knives as gifts for wives/girlfriends is first of all, never ask if she would like a knife, don’t even intentionally show her your knives unless she asks you to. Then if she despite that still shows a genuine interest and tells you multiple times that she would like a certain knife, then you can consider getting it for her. Just don’t assume that that’s gonna happen. Sad truth.

She'll never have to worry about any of that. I buy her any and everything she wants any time she says the words "I want..." And she doesn't wait for it. I drop whatever I'm doing that moment. See I have nothing against putting women on pedestals, I do have problems with them demanding we supply the step stool to get up and stay up there for themselves while they peer and sneer at us, down their long crooked snouts. Humility is a must.

The ex has sworn by a SAK and carried it in her purse for decades. In fact she even got me one just like it for Xmas one year.
I'm looking at it right now on my desk and thinking of how much that knife reminds me of her and is so much like her.
Cheap, worthless, imitation piece of junk, that couldn't be counted on for much of anything.
Only difference between the two is the knife was made in China and has the sideways blade play to prove it! lol

We're all glad.

I have bought my wife several knives over the years. The best was the Spyderco Dragonfly Tattoo as an anniversary present, which she carried all the time, until ....
That opened up her being interested in visiting Spyderco when we were back home in Colorado, and her getting a purple Delica, which she carried all the time.
I gave her a Buck 113 Ranger Skinner that was re-gifted to my dad. :-( and :)
I also got her a Victorinox Classic with the Dragonfly on it, which is on her keychain, even now.
Then, she got a Ladybug, which replaces the Dragonfly or Delica, depending on what fits in her pockets on any given day... Being married for this long, even I figured out that ladies get screwed by clothing companies in the size of pockets--- the 'big' ones are like the coin pocket in my jeans -- which is a blooming joke.
She also has a Mora Eldris in the mini-van's emergency bag, which she has voiced an appreciation for... :)

Good luck and enjoy

Pink classic sd and put it in her keychain. Will get carried.
Well A Vic Classic, anyway.

My wife is not really a knife person but, when we first started dating I gave her a SAK to keep in her car. She politely said thank you and that was the end of it. You could tell she did not see any need for it.

Now she complains if I even consider touching it. It's hers and it's paws off for me. She also has a Vic classic on her keyring. We were at a gun show and I was informed that she wanted another SAK. Who am I to say no?

Something small like a Vic Classic would drive me nuts.

The biggest mistake in making a gift choice for women
would be by sterotyping all females as having a natural fondness of cute pink folders.
I agree but many women seem to gravitate towards a knife that does not look "tactical" to them. Been one of the reasons I tend to do Vic SAKs. It's a starting point.

I think the biggest mistake in buying gifts for women, or, anyone really, is buying something you like for them.
This is true because she may think that while you may be making a nice gesture, you're really just buying another knife for yourself. My wife has to ask me about a particular knife before I would consider buying one for her. She has kept two knives so far that I purchased; a Vic Classic in silver alox, and a small Leatherman multitool. I believe it was the pink version of the Ps4 Squirt but it may well have been a Style PS. Haven't seen it in a good while. I bought the Leatherman for myself actually as it was on sale. However, your choices do influence theirs.

Hahahaha sorry, over sharing I'm guessing. Lol

Okay, fair enough.

yeah, but its nice when someone can’t contain their love for their partner. Also, watch yourself that you don’t spoil her into taking you for granted.
