Best Folding Knife for Bushcraft, Campcraft, and EDC?

I agree with this. If you don't like the Adamas, get a HEST/F. If you don't like the HEST/F, get a ZT0560. If you don't like the ZT0560, get a ZT0200.
If you don't like any of those, we probably can't help you, because you are too picky! :)

I really like all of those knives. Is there any way I can get them with S30V? If not, do the different steels used in those knives (D2 and 154CM) hold up? Is there really no difference?

No, you must have S30V! Anything else will shatter into dust! Just from whittling!

Don't be fooled by those who tell you otherwise.....

Well, as you've told us, you're special, so you should be able to test all of these out at your cousin's hairdresser's whatever's shop over in Israel! Should be awesome, be sure to post pics!

This covers 99.7% of my backcountry and EDC needs.

Opinel #9 ~ $15
Leatherman Micra ~ $20

Beyond this, you're mostly paying more money to get features that make you happy or fit & finish that will impress your friends, knife forum strangers or yourself.

Really, really hard to find a more durable folder than the Opinel. The carbon and Inox are easily field sharpened, which imo make a LOT more sense for backcountry travel.

There are more important parts of your backcountry equipment list to spend your money on.

Agreed, S30V is superior to all, S30V is a product of the gods and must not be doubted of its sacred composition.

"Bushcraft, Campcraft and EDC?" Three very different usages, for most of us. And, with all due respect to other commenters, not really what the latest tactical rages are best at.

Maybe a Leatherman Wave? Or a Case slip joint ? Or a Buck 110 if you insist on a single locking blade. That's how most of us started back in the day. And I wouldn't suggest a super steel until you find the limits of simple.

I keep forgetting the Opinel. Good choice, I've used mine for decades and still haven't found a food it won't prepare or a piece of wood it won't whittle. Plus you can impress the girls with comments about the last trip to France...

I took a bad couple of pictures of the place when I was there last time. The only version I have is of all the pictures collage-d together. From just a quick glance-over, I see two Spyderco's, so I guess I'll get what I'm looking for.

Neat pics, looks like several pawnshops around here (pawn shops tend to be halfway gun/knife shops in Florida).

Yeah, I see what you mean. None of those knives are for sale, however, because he sells the knives wholesale to the IDF and probably some companies too. Those are the only two guns/rocket launchers he has in the store, which he only really uses to impress people because he has a rocket launcher and an M14.

I'm going (probably) to go there in about a month with a better camera. I'll make sure to handle as many knives as I can before I leave.

The guy has a bunch of dummies in the corner. Some he uses to display his gas masks (it's Israel, everyone had* gas masks) and some he stabs and occasionally decapitates with his swords

I'd have to say his shop is more to impress potential customers and just to muck around in. I have to admit, I've never had more fun than when I went there and just got to handle a whole lot of really great knives.

I've used a bunch of not-so-great knives before. I had* a Gerber with 7Cr17MoV steel that didn't hold up too well, but did the job for me. I wasn't completely satisfied with that knife (especially the steel) which is why I want a really good steel in my knife.

Most of the time I'll be using this knife as an EDC. I'm only out in the woods a maximum of a week per month, and when I do go out into the woods I bring my EDC with me for general light camp and bushcraft uses, like making fuzz sticks, cutting food and line, killing snakes and whittling when I'm bored. When I get to weed whacking, I have to go find a machete, and occasionally just bite the bullet and take a few thorns.

The most I ever abuse my knife is occasionally to climb trees. I stab the tree and then pull myself up, (really stupid, I know. I've only done this a couple of times when I had no other options) hanging onto the knife. I heard the Paramilitary 2 can take several hundred pounds. I weigh about 125 so I'm not too worried about that. However, I am a believer in using a knife as a knife so I rarely use my knife to climb trees. I usually just use line to climb trees.

We appreciate this tale of yours, now son, it is midnight in Israel, it's time for you to go night-night.

I'm an American living in America, just of direct Israeli heritage and I have relatives there that I visit every so often. I'm not even an Israeli citizen.

If it concerns you, I get up at around 6:30 every morning so I usually go to bed around 10:30.

A Gerber with a Chinese steel equivalent of 440A is hardly testing the limits of simple.

I have a knife I made that has terrible steel that I tried using on a camping trip and it utterly failed me. The only reason I keep the knife is because I made it and I'm proud that it looks nice.

You should have explained that in the first place, not that it really matters as this thread is about looking for a magical folding knife that can do bush-wacking down to EDC shenanigans

I actually had an Opinel #8 once.

I bought it in Ireland, when I was nine years old. It was great but then my mom threw it away because I was nine years old and apparently incapable of not killing myself with a knife.

Now that I think about it, I had another Opinel that my aunt gave me for my birthday when I was like twelve. My mom threw that one out, too. My mom is the destroyer of great knives.

I had a machete once. I loved that machete. It helped me not get stabbed by thorns when I was bushwhacking. My mom threw that away, too.
