I want a massive tool for backyard playtime destruction, and I've decided on HI for my weapon of choice. I want to swing with reckless abandon at logs, old sheds, picnic tables, etc, without worrying about my blade bending or breaking during my fun and exercise. I've narrowed it down to the 30 inch Sirupati, the Talwar and the Tibetan Longsword.

What do you think would be the best for living out all my irresponsible, sword-wielding childhood fantasies?

My three best power choppers are:

- 20" Ang Khola
- 23.75" Chiruwa Chitlangi
- 26" Chitlangi

From what you picked, my preference would be the 30" Sirupati. I have a 25" Sirupati and it's a beast with a 19.5" blade.

yeah, i'd buy the 30 inch sirupati ;)

er, uh, yah.... now where would one go looking for a recent advert ;)

ahem ;)

the 25" sirupati or kobra would do it, just be careful of your wrist... use good form even if you're just playfully destroyin' stuff. Dunno 'bout you, but I've got a smaller build and smaller wrists... swingin' around the Kobra can be a tough after a few hours... luckily I add speed and let its own mass do the work.

If youre going to be going after sheds, picnic tables and other heavy objects you will want to go with an Churwa Ang Khola, WWII or British Amy Service, Bonecutter, Ganga Ram special, Foxy Folly,Yvsa Cherokee Special, M-43 or any other heavily built blade.

A 30 inch Siru may work, but the lighter ones won't... but it won't chop nealy as well as an Ang Khola.

The Chitlangi,Tarwar, Longsword ,Katana and Kobra are not meant for this type of work and may not be covered under warranty if used to chop heavy objects or abused until breakage.

If you're going to do that, then go big:

I'm going to say go with a GRS. 22" and 3lbs of cutting power. the other ones you mention are nice...but really not designed for major abuse.

Most of my collection are chitlangis. They are significantly stouter/wider/thicker/heavier than my two Sirupatis, and that includes the little 15.5" Chitlangi I bought for my wife.

Joe the HI Sword's aren't made for such use so you're best choice between those on your list would be the 30" Sirupati IMHO...
But ------ unless you're one helluva big ol' boy I'd think twice/or more about getting a khukuri with that much length as it'll be one helluva bitch to stop once you start a swing, let alone swing a blade that long with the weight forward...
Actually the best advice methinks I can pass onto you would be too wait a little while longer, do some more research to be better informed about what you really need instead of maybe want/desire. ;)
Then with your new found info either purchase an existing khukuri or perhaps special order one to your specifications... ;) :D

.

I have both the UF and the Chit Bowie. Chit bowie by a mile.

Yvsa is spot on though. That much weight makes it a real bitch kitty to stop.

I'm not looking for a power chopper, I want a big, sword-esqe play-thing that isn't going to bend or snap when I whack things with it. I have plenty of chopping power in my other knives.
