Man, that's like one of those bad dreams you have, running down the hall to the door, but never get there.

I keep waiting for the siru to chop through.

I like my Tibetan sword, but it's a cut-and-thrust sword, not a brush cutter. I keep it around for skewering burglars, and leave the brush cutting for the khukuris.

One thing about khukuri culture I'd point out is that the blades are (to a large degree) separated into light, fast grass and brush cutters (like the sirupate) and heavier wood cutters (like the AK). In general, the light ones are what the martial artists like, primarily because they are fast.

Same thing applies to swords. A heavy sword is fun, but unless you've got some serious muscles, it's not a great weapon, because it's slower.

So, if you're after fun chopping, get the biggest chopper you can swing, and go to town. If you're after a weapon, you might want to consider something lighter, in the 2-3 pound range.

Does a steel-spined chopper in the larger sizes give up a lot of efficiency to the wood-handled axe? I'd guess so, but I haven't used such a chopper.

I appreciate a khuk for its combined and considerable ability as a chopper, cutter, and draw knife.. but for serious chopping, I'd gravitate to a Gransfors Bruks or somesuch.

Done alot of chopping with my Tarwar

I just needed to bring this thread back to life. That is incredible, the brute
strength and all(of the blade). I can't help but to wonder why you aren't wearing goggles
at least. ;)
