Best hard use folder (Farm etc)

I think a better term would be a workhorse folder rather then hard use folder. The Buck110 is a classic no doubt, but a good question was asked about what is your budget?

Regulus by a forum maker Dalibor. 3V blade, Ti Framelock. Thing is a tank and an excellent piece.

I definately would NOT use my Regulus as a hard use knife on a farm. Ya it's build for hard use, but there are a Lot of cheaper knives that would do most jobs on a farm.

I hope you were kidding about using your Regulus on a farm. It's not a beater yet is it? What I mean is are you trying to make an expensive custom look like a beater ?

My family has a horse ranch, I used to work there and still do from time to time. I found that a multitool of some sort (a SAK or Leatherman, wichever model tickles your fancy) combined with a compact fixed blade worked best for all my chores.

A fixed blade does everything a folder can do, is stronger and easier to clean. Something like an ESEE-3, Bark River Fox River, Fallkniven F1 or any good Scandi knife (there are lots of good ones, fancy or simple). I tried the smaller ones like the Izula, WM-1 and such, but I just needed a bit more blade and, most of all, a larger handle.

The multitool gives you a back up blade and should save you a few trips to the tool shed.

I work on a farm and use my spyderco persistence everyday. Just cause your on a farm doesn't mean you gonna be sticking the knife in horse $hit every day.

I wouldn't call Sod Busters hard use, but they've been used on farms and ranches for years. It's 90% technique and 10% knife.

point but their relatively cheap and been used for decades. Maybe a 3 sisters forge beast. "lol" my grand father has carried a stockman for 2f years on his farm.

Great Eastern Cultlery #36 Sunfish, probably Northfield brand. It is a very stout slip joint.

The SOG Vulcan and Mini- Vulcan are very stout folders.

Based on what you want to do.. get a Letherman.. that way you have the right tools for all those jobs in one package. It's not as cool as the BM275 or others.. but working on a farm you should know its better to work smarter, not harder.

For all that a folder would be my 3rd choice with a small fixed blade as my second choice. Check out a small fixed blade like a BRKT Bravo Necker in 3V steel or even the Izula or Becker Necker. Light and tough.

What he said. A Leatherman Charge and either and Izula or Bravo Necker.

when i work on my grandfathers farm i've always carried a emerson cqc-8 and a leatherman. but just thought id through anotherone out there

Svord Peasant, now with aluminum handle scales.
