Need some imput on this matter.
Knife must be a quality knife.
Not "vintage" but still made and available.

Cheers,

André

..Jeroboams and Rehoboams.IIRC A2 steel ,macchined from 1 single piece of steel so no handle to blade joint failure. And it's made so that you CAN use the machine aluminum butt-cap as a field expedient hammer. :)

I like the knives from CRK but they have small guards !
I would like a knife with bigger guards/hilt.

Cheers,

André

I have a Chris Reeves Project I, and it seems to be a really good knife. As I recall, a few years back, Al Mar made a hollow handle knife which was supposed to be pretty good. Some people like Aitors, but I have never handled one, so I couldn't give an opinion. There are also some custom makers currently producing hollow handled knives, although I can't think of any off the top of my head. You might try asking in the Knife Makers forum to see if one of them can make it for you if money is not a problem.

Rather than a hollow handled knife, why not just get a good solid, full-length tang knife, that has a pouch or two on its' sheath?

How about a BUCKMASTER 184.Still available, main complaint is to heavy but I like them and pretty amazing history.

I bought a BUCKMASTER 184 about 12 years ago, took it on one camping trip. I used it to help make kindling for a fire, and stuck it into a tree stump.

I pulled it out at a slight angle and the tip was bent!!

Very soft metal, crap. I returned it the next day.

I own a buckmaster and a Lile to but are loking for what is made now. NOt 10-15 years ago.
Just sold a Randall #18-7,5 great knife but not me. The knife is not aggressive enough. LOL

The buck 184 was not all made the same way, A bit of info:

Not sure if they are currently produced, But Hackman knives of finland made a hollow handled survival knife

oops i guess they stopped production in the '80s

reeve or parrish are tops imho. also IIRC randall made one that was pretty good, #18??

I have the Randal 18, the Buckmaster, some cheap pos's and at least one of just about every Chris Reeve made. CRK is definitly the best in my opinion.
