best Khuks for military

I just got a BAS in today, I think that it is close to perfection. The sheath fits loosely so I can quickly draw it one handed. Because it's shorter and weighs less than my 18in WW2 I can swing the thing harder and faster with less effort. If I had a bigger build then an 18 incher would probably be a better choice. When I'm in the military a year from now I'm thinking a 18" GS will be on my hip.

I wound up with a shotgun and a demo pouch of #4 Buckshot. An 18" Siru would have been nice. In Elephant Grass you some times get pretty close. :)

My preference would be a H&K CAWS with drum mag, loaded with flechette cartridges. Better Aerodynamics, better penetration, better damage. :D:D:D

Pity that the CAWS project never got past the prototype stage... :(:(

An 18" WWII, 20+" Siru/GS/Chit/Chain/Kobra would be my ideal hth weapon, or a customised Tarwar, with a shortened blade, say, 20+" blade and 11" handle, would be perfect, IMOHO...

We should have a little discussion on sidearms next. My vote is an M1911 or .45 caliber Glock.

My vote is for: Whatever I have in my hand, when needed for the appropiate situation, that's going to terminate my opponent or change his/her mind. :)

Just give me a 1911 and a GS and I will be fine, don't need anything else. :D

Lash it onto your ruck or web gear, it's liable to get in the way on your belt. Don't believe me? Slip it on your belt and take a jog around the block, if nothing else you'll impress your neighbors. :D

Long knives belong on your pack.

Anything longer than a K-Bar anyway....:D

Just received my 17.5" M43 when I came back from current field live fire ex this afternoon. Feel swwwwwwweet! Can't wait to compare with my well-loved 16.5 WWII. Too bad it's in GA! :)

Balance is definitely different, but feels like it will "hit heavier", maybe.

Headed back out until Sunday. Maybe I'll bring my Chitlangi with me this time (left it out because of the obnoxiously long and foolish packing list our barracks queen of a Sgt Major gave us, but my direct sgts gave us a "revised" list today! :D).

Finally got my Pala handled 15" Sirupati smoothed, stained and finished. Feels light, fast, small, competent. Just maybe Sarge has the right idea. Then I lay my 12" Sirupati next to my Bauchop Alleycat and ask what more do I need? Either of them could more than do anything I needed.

Just like no plan ever survives contact, any carefuly selected piece of gear can be replaced by whatever happens to be available.

The best weapon is the first one your hand can reach when you just plain need one. I think anything Uncle Bill sends out will sure enough get the job done.

Sarge

Hey, Sarge;

Just wanted to tell you that I'm new to Khuks, but I'm not new to the military or humping crap over rough ground. Not new to deadly force either I'm afraid.

As I've been reading this post trying to decide what my second Khuk is going to be (just ordered the two BAS's today, courtesy of Uncle Bill's two for one sale), you've impressed me with your no-nonsense, "this is a lot of fun, but been there done that" good common sense.

Warfare, even in the early 21st century is an ugly, messy, exhausting business.

My thanks to you for "keeping it real" without coming across as preachy or condescending.

And by the way, my thanks to you and your fellow troopers for your service. Welcome home.
