Best Knife Bargains

What would you consider to be some of the best bargains in the knife world ?

I'm talking about getting the most for your money. Not (just) inexpensive knives. Maybe some custom knives that go for $600 would be considered a great deal to someone if they value the meticulous craftsmanship and fine materials to be worth more. Just as a certain production knife may be ignite the same sort of "what a bargain" to someone else. Everyone's different , thankfully.

Anyway , I feel that the Spyderco Manix2 is an outstanding deal that's hard to beat. For $86 brand new , you get a .125" thick S30V blade (now ffg) , nicely textured G10 scales over stainless steel liners , the awesome Ball Bearing Lock. And it's a Spyderco.

Your turn ...

I would say most U.S.A made Kabars are high value. most have great 1095cro-van and have really good fit and finish. Also Mora knives are a good deal most are about $10 to $30 and have great steel and fit and finish

Benchmade Griptillian before they enacted their new pricing policy, still a great knife for the current price.

I feel the ZT 0200 is a great value for the $140 range, 3D machined G10, 154-CM, made in the U.S.A., outstanding quality, etc.

New - Mora and Victorinox

Used - USA Camillus and USA Schrade

The above provide excellent value in knives and you can find great examples for $20 or less. Getting the most for your money can be inexpensive, and there's no reason it shouldn't be.

Have to say Moras definitely but on the higher end of things I think a hinderer at cost is amazing! Fit and finish are perfect plus resale value is almost double which doesn't hurt.

Mora, Opinel, most SAKs, RAT 1 or 2, ESEE Izula, more Spydercos than I can name.

Under $100: The $35 USA made Kershaw Zing

$100-200: The $120 Spyderco PM2

$200-400: The $340 ZT0777M390

$400+ : ANYTHING from John W. Smith

I've generally been quite happy with Kershaw knives for overall value, and those that I didn't care for went to friends of mine who love them. I personally rotate between a One Ton, Vapor III and RJI for EDC purposes. My "beater" for around the house is a Schrade XT2B that I'm sure I paid less than $25 for, and although it's the discontinued USA version, I also have the newer Chinese model that is - as far as I can tell - every bit as good.

For a bigger knife, I find it hard to go wrong with Ontario. Not necessarily attractive knives, but I have yet to be disappointed by one. My only complaint is that I don't have any legitimate reason to walk around the office with a Marine Raider riding on my belt.

Izula I and II, bunch of Swamp Rats and ScrapYard...Beckers...ZT 0770..love it! Various spydercos like the para 2 and military...Rat 1

Most spydercos offer value IMHO with providing the cost effective asian manufacturing mixed with premium materials and exceptional fit and finish. Boker plus has really been upping the ante with its offering lately and CRKT is my favorite bargain brand. The last of which isnt really anything special in terms of materials or even finish but they knives are usually dialed in really well. I know you dont like flippers but they are mainly what I collect. And honestly they take a lot of effort to do right. And both boker and CRKT make exceptionally well functioning knives. I also feel Kershaw and ZT make an exceptional product for the price but I have not been having the greatest luck with their more costly items in terms of finish quality.

Benchmade Griptillian before they enacted their new pricing policy, still a great knife for the current price.

Just an idea, you can think I'm wrong, but can you guys get over the MAP increases and just go back to posting about knives?

Spyderco Gayle Bradley Folder - probably the last knife that I should've bought
Kershaw Injection 3.0 - if I could only buy one folder and it had to be under $50 this would be it
Victorinox Spartan - less than $10 on the big auction site
Leatherman Wingman - got mine for $20

In no particular order:

Mora
Benchmade Mini-Grip and Grip (at the old price only)
The entire Becker lineup
Most budget Kershaws
Spyderco Tenacious line
Spyderco Para 2
+others
