Best Knife for general bushcraft?

There's an idea...you could get a Busse!

or maybe a Kephart

Or, just for the sake of giving you a comparison picture...one of these

Sorry Mike.

But if you want, I have a brand new extra 1 of these laying around in need of a new home. Feel like spending some money ;)

hhhmmmm....:o i wish i could brother.. i have 1 other knife (not a scandi) i still need to pay for...:o

I use to hate deciding..

Now it's usually 1 of these.

Tony, that's an incredible collection. Would you mind letting us know what these five are? Do you prefer one as a general "go to" bushcraft knife, or do you prefer the strengths of all, equally? Thanks!

Pretty much anything made with good old carbon steel, and 3/16 or thinner is fine. I love my Breeden warthorn, and I plan to get a Fiddleback-Something.

The warthorn is my go-to knife for everything. I like the full-convex grind better than scandi's. I gotta check out that BHK though!

So many knives, so little money!

Basically, you cannot go wrong with any of the knives listed. Just depends on which style you like best and works best for you.

I would recommend a Breeden Warthorn/1-0/Sojourner.

The top is one I designed which Brian Andrews made for me.

The next 1 down is made by Mark Wohlwend

3RD from the top is the Skookum Bush Tool

4th Koster Bushcraft in 3V

Bottom is the Helle Fjellkniven

My favorite of the bunch is the top 1, easily my most used and carried knife. Mostly due to the handle comfort and cutting edge Brian Andrews put on it

You are holding a piece of fatwood, not a knife.

Marion

That's because the Rodan is the knife standing up behind the piece of fatwood. I used is to hack and pry apart a stump to get at it. So I'm not holding the knife, and the stump isn't holding the fatwood! ;):p

Here's a clearer pic. It was late last night and my Photobucket-fu was not so strong. :o

The 14.5" Imacasa "Colin" is a good one. I'll be posting a review on it as soon as I get the chance to adventure with it. ;)

Cheap route: Mora and a Fiskars hatchet.
More spendy route: Roselli Carpenter & Axe.

I find that I leave my F1 home as I like to bring an axe for camp chores and the F1 doesn't excel at woodcraft. Might not be able to carve so well, but at least you can split logs with it... :)
