best knife for iraq

If I could have only one knife for every task, I would pick a ASH-1 or a Sarsquatch. However, the Satin Jacks, Jackhammers etc. would be my first choice for a soldier.

just got a new scrap yard SS4 last week and thought of this thread.

I'm loving it and seems like a great companion for your larger blade. It's tough, handy size, cuts like a mother, light, great all-rounder, small and light to pack and could be a mean little fighter.

Can you tell I'm really happy with this blade? :) :)

You could also check the exchange for a Scrap Yard knife. There are a couple that would fit the bill, if you can find on on the exchange. They aren't Infi, but from all reports are just as tough. They will be less money, and will be lower profile as well.

If you need infi, the above suggestions all will work. Hell razor, or jack hammer, or satin Jack will all be more like what you want. Or you could try a skinny Ash1, try to trade for one on the exchange. They are a bit less weight, especially with the standard handle versus the thick one with mags.

I went over with the Marines in Sept 07 and I got back in April. I had a Ripper, a BATac, and a Game Warden (plus a Dozier, a Benchmade 525, a Gerber tool and a Leatherman Wave). I was a Motor T guy.

The Ripper was on my Duece gear (in a Spec-ops sheath w/ the gerber) and went with me on the OTW stuff. The GW was on a horizontal belt sheath (B.A.D.A.S.S. style, special ordered to fit a rigger's belt) from Armoralleather (Leatherman here on BF) and was what I wore in the FOBs/Airbase in the small of my back. This worked well with the vests and SAPI plates.
I had the BATac and the Dozier, but they spent most the time in my footlocker.

Most all the suggestions on here are good. The BAtac's are probably the most affordable now and probably are your best bet for taking Infi with you.
