Best Knife?!

lol the bk 4 definitely or if you want to go light weight the bk 9 :D. I would say the bk eskabar

What's obvious in this thread, looking at all the nice neck knives, is that there is no "best" but "best for you" and what exactly you want out of a neck knife.

I will put my $.02 in, and say that an Izula would be my choice.

The best neck knife is the knife you ca wear around your neck and forget it's there until you need to use it. And that's exactly what this is:

The Bark River Adventurer II was modeled after the famous Murray Carter Neck knife.

I carry knives in pockets, and sometimes on my belt. Around my neck just isn't convenient (for me).
That said, I'd probably the pick Guardian 3. (Not even probably - I did pick the Guardian 3)

I love my Guardian 3 but for me it would be a little to big for neck carry. On the belt or pack its awesome though.

Esee izula is probably a good place to start.

Probably would say the same thing about my Izzy but it would be closer. For a neck knife I would say Candiru

It took me me a lot of knives & years before I found the perfect neck knife for ME. Now, what may be perfect for me, may not be perfect for you. With that said, MY perfect neck knife is a Todd Begg Tree Frog.

Spyderco did a terrific job with the ARK. Another really excellent neck knife is the CRKT Minimalist.

Most neck knives I think are either too big for the task, or so small as to be of little value.

I have always liked the Blackjack neck knife which is made by Bark River in 154cm steel. It is on my buy list, but something always seems to get in front of it.

ESEE Candiru is the right size for me. I've tried bigger knives but the retention has to be much tighter for that style of carry then it takes a good yank to release it.

I tried neck knives but i never cared for pendulum motion of a hunk of metal on unstable ground. I'd say a puukko would be your best option. Light enough for it not to bother you (too much) but big enough to actually be useful for general knife tasks.

I am not a big neck knife guy, I have 2: the Minimalist and the CRKT Sweet K.I.S.S. Knife. Here is a video I did on the latter in case you want to consider that one :D

QUOTE=Blades2442;15952581]What is the best neck knife in your opinion, maybe the EKT companion?? Let me know, post some pics! Give me ideas and what you think about neck knives, chat, thats why it is here![/QUOTE]

"Best" for what purpose?

Different blade profiles excell at different tasks. For example, a hawkbill is not worth a daRn for skinning critters, but excells for pruning, carpet, linoleum, electrical wiring, and working with coax cable.

For opening mail/packages, and breaking down cardboard, a sheepsfoot and Wharncliff are excellent choices. (also great choices for cutting leather, thick foam, and tasks requiring precise cuts.)

For opening cans of paint or other prying tasks, a "church key" (ok, so it is not a knife) or a dive knife would be a good choice.

Determine what your primary task(s) are, then choose a blade that is suitable for those tasks - or at least the ones you will be doing most often.

I'll have to second the vote for the Spartan Enyo. For a neck knife it disappears and I hardly notice its there. I actually woke up & realized I had left it on when going to bed yesterday. The coating on the blade is beautifully done. The hand feel in various grips is great. The sheath is tough & holds the blade nicely. After I removed the handle lanyard its almost impossible to see that I have it under my shirt. The s35vn steel is a big plus as well. Hope you find what works for you!:)
