Best Looking Delrin?

I might be biased, ok I am biased. I like Schrade Delrin the best.

The whittler on the left isn't delrin, but it is early Schrade composition.

If I had to choose it would be Old Timer delrin.

Here's my favorite...
Those are mine too. :p

Here are two more Delrin-handled knives from Imperial-Frontier. I don't care for either one (too much like ordinary plastic to suit me), but since you're interested:

And here's a black plastic Delrin Old Timer, a Limited Edition from ~1976.

Ordinarily I wouldn't care for the black Delrin, but it's pretty sharp-looking when matched with the brass.

but i'm biased... the camillus was my first real knife (was my grandads) as was the schrade, and of course the yeller case knives are always purty!

Bob, I have a "Frontier" / Imperial Schrade stockman with the green delrin you show above. Not exactly attractive. Neither really is the blue delrin that Old Timer used on its FFA knives IMO.

Edit: Here's a poor picture that I cropped from a larger group shot. Several types of Delrin scales here though. Top to bottom: black sawcut on Buck, black jigged on Cold Steel, blue sawcut on Schrade FFA knife, sawcut on two Old Timers (I think I see the older and newer distinction that Bob makes), three versions of Uncle Henry Staglon (one darker than the other two), and another sawcut Old Timer.

I don't have one of those, but the color makes it really stand apart in the photos I've seen.

I have a couple of Old Timers in green delrin also. Technically it might be the exact same material as the traditional brown Old Timers, but it just doesn't feel the same.

Here's a closer version of a smaller knife. It does look better than the green IMO, and of course, blue and gold are the FFA colors (though FFA blue is a darker navy blue rather than the royal blue of the knife scales).

I switch back and forth between Schrade Stagalon and the Schrade sawcut Delrin, right now I like the Stagalon (Uncle Henry's) but that might change next week.:)

I agree on the Old Timer sawcut Delrin, but I also like the jigged Delrin on an old Ulster scout knife, or Craftsman equivalent.

Of course I am a bigot for anything that doesn't say Buck, of course what I have at home in a dark room I will never tell.
I know, I know Scharde and Cami made the old Bucks that I like. I concede the battle but not the war.
Old 300 Series Delrin came in three colors and the reds ,sawcut and smooth. Late 80's early 90's pictured.

I dunno Guyon, the blue on that baby looks fine to me!

If this weren't the traditional forum, I'd say that looks a lot like the blue Spyderco ended up using on the Yojimbo. :foot:

It looks better to me on the small knife than the larger stockman.

It's nearly the same color as the BFC Spyderco Native. I owned one of those but wound up selling it. Just too much blue. Blue everywhere. :p

Here is my favorite OT and the Delrin is fantastic on this knife. I have also included a Camillus scout knife.

Here's how to ruin nice delrin:

ComplimentsOldTimer.jpg

Ugh...

Is that the gunstock trapper? that was my best friend's knife when we were growing up (his didn't have the billboard on it). At least it was until he broke it by sticking it in a tree when we were in high school. I gave him another one as a groomsman gift when I got married, but I think the replacement was a Taylor since I didn't know any better at the time.

Is that the gunstock trapper?...
It's one of the trapper models, but I'm not sure which one; I don't have it handy at the moment (it's across town in a museum display). That butt-ugly Schrade logo was done at the factory. The blade has a special "Compliments of Schrade" etching, and the opposite handle has a sterling shield like on the Schrade Classic pocketknives. The Compliments... knives were done in small numbers and given annually to preferred dealers. I've never seen another one with the blue and yellow logo.

Aha! I can see in the picture that's a 194OT, aka Gunstock Trapper.

Another Cami. contract made Buck knife but these 329s have a classic look and pleasing line, both to the eye and in the hand. When EDCing I always hope the Derlin will darken slightly.
American flag ain't shabby either.
