Best Made / Base Camp X Axes

Do not count other people's money, if someone buys it, then it is allowed to be.
There is much more expensive axes, and queue on them-the years

So to my question, no one experienced with deception in Base Camp X/Graeme Cameron?
I can not get an answer from him about my lost order ...

I don't believe I've come across anyone with first hand experience of a Base Camp X axe. I've heard several people report that Base Camp will not return e-mails from people who inquire about their products. Perhaps they are no longer in business. I hope you get your problem resolved. Base Camp axes are made by other companies, it might be easier to order directly from them.

I have a bridge to sell them if I ever meet them. ;)
I assume these more expensive axes are high end racing axes, used by experts in competitions where a lot of money and bragging rights are on the line?
I am not buying either, but if I had the money I would buy a high end racing axe and probably use it to a fraction of it's ability.
Now the question is, is that any different then someone buying a Best Made axe? Maybe not.

Correct me if I am wrong here but this kind of looks like a bunch of NYC hipster taking Council Tool axes, give them a sanding and paint job and charging way more for them. Am I missing something?

I don't find that video very endearing either but you are missing one thing; BMC sells an unfinished version for around the same price as the Velvicut. If someone wants to pay more for the painted version then our wise Russian friend Turbo4x4 said it best, "Don't count other peoples' money, if someone buys it, then it is allowed to be."

I wrote above, my collection has two axes of the BMC, it is very good for its price axes.
The quality of the finish is the highest handles in my unfinished axes!
I try to work them each of my 50+ axes, and my verdict-axes BMC easier to use than Gransfors Brooks (American Felling and Scandinavian Forest).
(I have 12 axes of this Swedish company)
PS To Trailmaker:
Thank you for your kind words!

I recently ordered an item, and other than the additional shipping costs message (which I was informed an invoice via paypal would be sent), I have heard nothing further. To include not receiving the paypal invoice... It's only been a week, but I sent a message asking for a followup, as they said it would ship in a week. Still haven't heard a peep since.

Could everyone keep me informed on this? I'm not familiar with Base Camp X, but if they are ripping off axe enthusiasts I might write this up as a story on my blog.

Thanks,

CW

Last week I received a letter that Axe sent six weeks ago.
It turns out that my address was in the spam filter, and my letters did not reach.
I'll wait another 2 weeks, from Canada to Russia, a very long delivery.

Wow, 6 weeks already? Did they send it via caravel?

Seriously, though, I recently ordered an axe head from the UK to the Western US. That took 8 days.

I buy and order axes around the world, from USA to Russia, the parcel is 2-3 weeks from Europe two weeks, but from Canada, never less than a month did not come! Even from Australia to Russia, the parcel was 3 weeks old!

Well, I hope they come through for you, my friend.

Received a reply last week indicating the order is being worked on and will ship within a week. Hopefully, I receive it within two weeks.

I haven't seen any posts about Best Made or Base Camp X.

Anyone know anything about them? (Other than that they can get expensive?) A lot them look great.

AF

I was interested in Base Camp's axes and asked in an email what justified the significant price, and directed a couple questions about why they were only emphasizing their designer handles with no mention of the forging nor anything a blade lover would want to know. I applaud some of their principles but who makes the heads and where? Does anybody here use one of their axes or are they wall-hangers? I never heard back from the folks over there.

the link for that base x model you posted is basically a racing design. You can find something similar at Bailey's. Look for their competition work axe.

If you are willing to spend that kind of coin on an axe you could get a real Tuatahi race axe.
Like Zombiechopper stated, the Base Camp X Titanis Axe series are made in New Zealand by Tuatahi. If you look closely at some of the pictures, one can see "Tuatahi" on side of the axe head and "Base Camp X" on the other side.

Saw this video of the Base Camp X Titanis "out in the woods bucking" which I believe looks like the Jupiter.
