What's your favorite movie fight? Any kind of movie - as long as there are fisticuffs going on.

I'm partial to the one in The Quiet Man where John Wayne and Victor McLaglen duke it out.

Even though it was a terrible movie, the end fight scene of Cyborg with Jean Claude was cool the first time I saw it. Saw it again recently, and couldn't even finish it.

Indiana Jones Vs. The Scimitar wielding guy in Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

Most realistic fight in a film.

I believe there's a similar thread over at Prac-Tac.

How 'bout the one in the last Rocky film MANY years ago. The one when Sly took on his supposed protege in the alley? Lots of "street" kind of shots and maneuvers that you can't use in the ring.

I tend to dislike the modern ones with flying kicks and somersaults.

The Quiet Man was a fine film with a fine fistfight, a bit stereotyped but that was the idea, right?.

In Mexican films there are some great Classics, old ladies idol Pedro Infante got into a few as a singing Charro, and there's a very emotional prison fight as "Pepe El Toro" in "Nosotros los Pobres" (only for soap opera lovers). There's also some very funny fights in old films with wrestling heroes "El Santo" and "Blue Demon".

Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris in "Return of the Dragon"
Bruce Lee vs Kareem Abdul Jabbar in "Game of Death"
Any of the fights in Jackie Chan's "Drunken Master II" ("Legend of Drunken Master"

Rowdy Roddy Piper in "They Live" suplexes on concrete, the whole nine yards.

I also liked Mel Gibson and Gary Busey in the first Lethal Weapon.

Chuck Norris and Superfoot Wallace in "A Force of One"

I don't like the newer high wire flying fights or the ones where one guy flippy kicks all the guys standing single file, waiting for their turn to get kicked in the head by the good guy. Van Damme's fights in Blood Sport were pretty good too.

Any fight scene is a good one, as long as the combatants aren't jumping from tree to tree and flying through the air(blatant diss on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

I haven't seen it in a long time but in the old James Bond film "From Russia with Love", Sean Connery and Robert Shaw had a pretty good fight. I think it seemed more intense because it took place in the confined space of a train car sleeping compartment. A little knife content too if I remember correctly.

I don't know that this is the Best fight, but I really liked Uma Thurman in Kill Bill vol. I vs. that young woman with the ball and chain. As far as fighting goes.... Bloodsport and Lionheart had some of the best fights that I've ever enjoyed.
I really liked Darth Maul fighting sequence in Episode I also.

Unless it is choreographed and directed by Van Damme:barf: I have a friend who likes that moron, and I had the misfortune of watching a fight scene that was 100% van Damme. It was the worst I have seen. :thumbdn:

Danbo: "the house of flying Daggers" was worse than Crouching tiger, so was "Hero". All in the same pseudo-artsy aerial ballet style, and I think by the same people.:thumbdn:

Battle scenes:

LOTR - Battle of Helm's Deep
Braveheart - Battle of Stirling
Star Wars - Battle of Yavin

1 on 1:

Luke vs. Vader - Empire Strikes Back
Terminator vs. T-1000 - T2

Probably more, but this is what I came up with short-handed...

I don't know about movie, but sunday night on Rome there was a good fight with a decapitation, two limb loppings, and an impalement. HBO went all out.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT... 14 POSTS AND NOBODY GOT THE BEST ONE OF ALL:

Bob Barker vs. Happy Gilmore. I have never laughed so hard at a fight ever in my life!

Not very good movies, but the bare knuckle fist fights in the two Clint Eastwood movies, "Every which way but loose", and "Any which way you can".

How about First Blood, when Rambo is escaping the police dept.?

My favorite is Edward Norton vs. Himself in Fight Club. I mean, that had to be the best acting, and most interesting fight I'd ever seen.

Okay, now I know I'll catch some flak, but in the first Matrix movie (which spawned a lot of the multi-camera stopped action stuff) there were some ground-breaking fight sequences. After the first movie, things got old quickly, but the first time you saw it, you had to say wow.

LOTR had some cool fight scenes, as well.

Edited to add: The cross-town bare-fisted fight in Any-which-way, was one that sticks out in my memory. Good one Glennbad.

In the movie "They Live," they is a LONG fight between Rowdy Roddy Piper and whoever the co-star is. I don't remember how long it is, but it's VERY long. It could be 10 minutes.

It's an interesting fight, because Piper is trying to beat the other guy, actually a friend, into doing something. It's kind of intense because it's not just about beating the other guy up. There's a lot of frustration involved, and they really have to give each other a beating because Piper is trying to break down a mental barrier.

Streets of Fire, Willem Defoe and Michael Pare duel with big friggin hammers (old railroad hammers, I think).

Last of the Mohicans, Magua vs Chingchgook (sp?). Hawk and knife vs warclub. Brutal.

The Crow, Eric Draven vs Tin Tin. Lotsa knife content.

Unleashed, Jet Lee was in rare form. Savage.

My favorite also. BTW, McLaglen actually fought heavyweight champ Jack Johnson as a young boxer. Next time you watch "The Quiet Man" remember that McLaglen was 69 years old when he made that film!

The fight scenes in "Raging Bull" are pretty gritty.
