Best movie fight

The Bourne Identity and even more so the Bourne Supremacy have awesome fights. Man-to-man, hand-to-hand, raw.

The beginning fight in Gangs of New York "ears and noses are the spoils today"

even though it was corny and over the top, I like the fight scenes between Neo and Agent Smith in Matrix Dumb and Dumber (aka Reloaded and Revolutions), but they don't hold a candle to the fight scene finale in the first Matrix

Hellboy versus the demon in, um, Hellboy

Luke vs Vader in Empire Strikes Back

Vader vs Obi wan Kenobi in Revenge of the Sith

Liam Neeson vs Tim whats his name the short guy? in Rob Roy

the first Drunken Master where Jackie Chan beats the living snot out of the guy planning a party, and after he beats him up, knocks him into a pile of dog mess

Travolta vs Nic Cage in Face Off

In both Yojimbo and a Fistfull of Dollars, when Toshiro Mifune and Clint Eastwood are beaten to a pulp, beat the crap out of their captors (pre yakuza for Toshiro, and gunslingers for Clint, IMHO, Bruce didn't do too good of a job in Last Man Standing)

the martial arts scenes in Brotherhood of the Wolf, I really liked the movie, even though the fighting was corny, it was still neat

HARD TIMES! I've always loved Charles Bronson beating the crap out of people!

Another vote for Klyde hitting the cop... I mean Clint Eastwood hitting everybody in Every Which Way but Loose. ("Right turn, Klyde")

How about the WORST fight scenes?
Sean Connery in League of Extraordinary People. His punch didn't seem to have any power behind them, and yet, the BGs somehow go flying everywhere. I like Sean Connery as an actor, but I think he was too old for that part. Maybe they should have gotten Ernest Emerson to play that part. :D

Roddy Piper vs. Keith David in They Live is a classic, alright. "Put on the glasses!"

And you know who did the fights/stunt coordination for it, right? Jeff Imada.

I love the fight scenes from Legend of Drunken Master 2. Operation Condor 2:The Armor of the Gods is right up there as well.

Thomason,

I think that's the best Bond fight scene out of all the movies. Down and dirty, survival of the meanest. It's not everyday the character of James Bond comes out of a fight looking shaken. Shaw plays a pretty convincing sociopath.

Tim Roth. He got an Oscar nomination for that role. The swordplay was choreographed by William Hobbs, who also did "The Duelists". Amazing (and actually realistic) swordfighting in both of these.

The swordplay is the Duellists was incredible. Hobbs also arranged the fights in "The Count of Monte Cristo." The fight in the end of the movie was awesome - sword play, puching, kicking, throwing rocks.

Anybody else remember the barroom brawls in the Trinity movies?

:D

Terri Hatcher - v - Charlize Theron in 2 Days in the Valley. Nothing like a good catfight. :D

That was a classic fight. Not a great one but funny as hell.

Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon is one of my all time favourites. That is the most realistic display of Jeet Kune Do amongst all his movies.

In recent times i recommend ALL OF YOU to watch Ong Bak. Stars Tony Jaa and it is a Thai movie. No wire work in the fight scenes and the lead performs all the fights. I don't believe i've seen a better fight scene since Bruce Lee died. Full on muay thai.

Ong Bak

What's your favorite movie fight? Any kind of movie - as long as there are fisticuffs going on.

I'm partial to the one in The Quiet Man where John Wayne and Victor McLaglen duke it out.

The all time greatist is the cripple fight between Timmy and Jimmy from Southpark! It was taken from a Rowdy Roddy Piper movie, all the same moves and dialogue.

Roy Scheider and the asian assisan in Marathon man was good.

Someone mentioned the police station escape scene from Rambo, I like the scene in the woods later with the booby traps. The scene where he says to the sheriff "In town you're the law, out here it's me!"

King Arthur's fight with the Black Knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail is pee your pants funny!

Almost as funny was the Karate fight scene in the original Manchurian Candidate where Frank fights a 6+ foot tall Italian Henry Silva playing... Get this, A Korean!

Lot's of good fight scenes in Gladiator.

The scene where R. Lee Ermey stomps Mathew Modine and names him Pvt. Joker in Full Metal Jacket.

The Bowie knife Tomahawk fight scene in the Patriot where Mel saves his son from the British after they kill his other son and burn his home is really good.

thomason write "I haven't seen it in a long time but in the old James Bond film "From Russia with Love", Sean Connery and Robert Shaw had a pretty good fight. I think it seemed more intense because it took place in the confined space of a train car sleeping compartment. A little knife content too if I remember correctly"

I quite agree that...
Was a brutal fight, not like "dancing fight" you could see nowaday...

One of my favourites has got to be the scene in The Ninth Configuration where "Killer" Kane confronts the bikers, brilliant.

Not really a movie fight but a cartoon renactment of a fight scene from the movie "They Live", it's the cripple fight between Timmy and Jimmy, from South Park, it was brutal.  :D

The Terence Stamp movies are some of my favorite westerns. My Name is Nobody and Trinity were pretty good. I saw another one of the Trinity movies that was pretty dark, but still entertaining because of the slapstick fighting from Trinitys brother.

Oh, it goes beyond that. Matt Damon is a long-time Kali student and in both movies the actors selected to play the other characters in the big fights were also FMA students. So, Mr. Imada was able to design and choreograph the fights at a level that is very unusual and the result is some really excellent fights.

Alec Baldwin kicking the crap out of William Macy's son and girlfriend (different times) in The Cooler.

Peter Coyote and Tchéky Karyo in Exposure, some great knife fighting and training in that one.

Any of the fight scenes in The Krays.

How could you guys forget Jack Black going thermonuclear on Tim Robbins in High Fidelity?

What about A Clockwork Orange, both when Alex kicks butt, and when he gets his butt kicked?

Last, but not least, the AWESOME scene in Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze and Marshall R. Teague, where the bad guy says, "I used to f**k guys like you in prison", and Swayze responds with "You are such an a**hole". Classic!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
