Best Non Busse-kin fixed blade company?

Survive! Guy uses 3v is most knives, comes in a 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10 inch, and a little necker is available for pre order. I have many knives from him and they are simply incredible. Tough as nails steel, extrememly comfortable handles and made in the USA. I highly recommend his work!

Fallkniven, they're laminated stainless and are some of the toughest knives out there. They are kinda pricey but I've never heard of one breaking in the field. They can chip a little IF you abuse them, so cinder block bashers might pass on them. But for anything normal they are top notch and I would think as strong or possibly stronger in lateral strength than 3V or other carbons.

Another vote for Spartan Blades.

Fallkniven, ESEE, Fehrman, and TOPS also get my vote.

If not Busse, I would go with a custom. I have Busse's, but I have more custom fixed blades. Alot of good makers out there.
Busse, and Customs are the only fixed blades I own except for a little Benchmade Activator(BK210) neck knife.

I collect Busses, of which a few are designated users. As far as functionality goes, there is only one fixed blade knife for one specific use that I would reach for before one of the Busses. That is a Dozier General Purpose which is in reality a great semi-skinner that is my go-to whitetail fixed-blade hunting knife, although I also wear a Busse Zero Tolerance Natural Outlaw E to have a heavier duty knife on me as well. I am not into wearing really big, heavy knives.

Bark River
Fallkniven
Blind Horse Knives
Koster
Fiddleback Forge Knives

are my top fixed blade makers

some knife nuts in china have been repoted mission A2 knives are tough , even toughest .

Check out the new BK&T bk24 in d2 steel. Easy to slide into a pocket sheath.

When it comes to pocket fixed blades, I really like Koster's EDC.

I have carried a Busse SS, Busse BAD, Busse GW to fill that role.

The Koster EDC was cheaper, and had a couple of things I like in a small fixed blade. No coil. Fantastic handle from an ergonomic standpoint.

I tested two models one wood grip with a tapered tang, and one G10. His treatment of the G10 (bead blasted) was fantastic. It had a subtle texture on it that was good for grip, but not at all abrasive. I believe the Koster EDC can be had in 3V, and it is available in a range of blade lengths! The handle might be too much for some for pocket carry, but I did not find it so.

My Busse + kin knives will never be replaced, but there are a few others that will certainly get the job done.
As others have said, Fehrman knives have been closely compared to Busse for years and have some great designs.
However, i would recommend a custom.
Tom Krein makes some awesome fixed blades for a decent price..mine are in A2 steel.
Bob Dozier's KS7 Wilderness in CF is the prettiest fixed blade that i own and it dominates with his D2 steel.
Now that Todd Davison is making fixed blades i will definitely be getting one them as well.

Just bought two of his. Now for the 12 week wait. :-p

I don't see a 10 inch available right now.

I own some Busse and Scrapyard knives . I've never had a Ferhman , but have heard them compared to Busse often as well . I do have a Survive GSO 5 though and I think it can be compared to Busse for quality and durability .

Sorry, i know this borders on thread resurrection, but someone mentioned Miller Bros. Blades - i just got one of these, the model M35 and it is an absolute tank, with a thick, well-supported edge and full flat grind, but the tip is very acute making it a stabber on par with SYKCO Regulator, etc. yet still having lots of belly for slicing/ slashing/ whatnot. Also Ranger Knives by Justin Gingrich. I have found him to be one of the best knife artists in terms of making a bad-ass tough-as-hell knife for a fair price and GREAT customer service. I guess now they are called Gingrich Tactical instead of Ranger Knives since he sold the designs to Ontario, but i have several knives made by him in M4, 5160, H13 and my personal favorite, S7. I'd put as much confidence in these two makers' knives as i would in my Busse-kins.
