I just found this part of the forum pretty recently and have been checking out all the posts. Everyone has posted some awesome pictures. Some are really breathtaking. But I imagine that people also take some really good pictures, that just don't make it into posts as well. It would be cool if there was a place to post your best outdoors/hiking/nature picture. I myself am by no means a professional, I only have a small digital camera, but would love to see what everyone else has. Just one, and where it was taken. :D

Ill start

Mt Haleakala, at sun rise, ridge trail

This is the best picture I've ever taken. Did it with my phone even. Cannon Beach Oregon. Taken while on the porch at Tolovana Inn.

I have a lot of great pictures from travels, this one is on my work computer and one of my favorites I guess. This was long before I got a nice camera to I will have to look when I get home for my "best"

Grand prismatic Yellowstone park, WY (if you look at the far edge of the pool you can see a boardwalk with people on it and that will give you a size reference on how large this pool is)

wow, great pics!
shotgun, clouds look awesome
vtguy, the colors are unbelievable in that second picture, it doesn't look real

Yea I know, that picture is not edited at all either thats exactly how it looks thats why it's called "grand prismatic"

Well done!!! Cameras take pictures like ink pens write novels (or hammers build houses or pots cook a meal or ......) - you composed a great photo at the "just-right-time" and the "just-right-exposure". Good job.

When I lived on the far east coast of maine in East port. Picture has been cropped but not edited.

It's the Drvac Bay on the Peljsac Peninsula of Croatia taken 27Aug2009. Was a fun family camping trip (and i got to do some photography for *me*)

Oh yeah, it's not edited/cropped or anything.... OK, well i *did* resize for the web.

I took this pic The week of the 4th of July 2011, it was taken while I was on vacation in the Great Smokey Mountians Tenn. This was up on Clingmans Dome ! Best view in the Smokies IMO -

This is one of my favorites. It was taken in southern Utah after repelling through one of the skylights

Another picture to give an idea of size

Notice one of my canyon Pups, I think this hike was a little to much for her I carried her over my shoulder for the last little climb out of the canyon all she wanted to do was sit and look miserable I felt really bad

I think this was taken in Arches NP just outside of Moab. Look familiar?

Lake Bohinj, Slovenia

Nearest road is down by the lake, and this was taken halfway through the second day of a two day backpacking trip while heading back down to the lake. Trip was me and my mom, she took the photo. She's tough as nails.

To give the proper perspective on this image...My brother and I were speeding down this hill on a mountain bike trail, and I pulled out my phone/camera, held it up and snapped a photo (sort of a "Hail Mary"). Later that evening we returned home and I checked the image...here is what I got:

These are some great pictures. Wish I had some to contribute but I suck at big shots.
