There are a lot of really great places to eat across the U.S.A., just about any place you go someone somewhere will tell you so-so's got the best ribs or so-n-so's has the best atmosphere, well around here in North East Pennsylvania, right off of Rt. 80 in East Stroudsberg is a place called Everybody's Cafe, the menu is very ethnic and ranges from African Groundnut Chicken to Hungarian Steak Paprikash, a full seafood menu along with standards like Southern Fried Chicken and a complete vegetarian menu to boot.

They have indoor and al fresco dining, (weather permitting), as you walk into the old 18th century converted building you can't help but notice the 18-20 ft. vaulted ceilings with the 15 ft. pocket doors with the hand carved spiral sunburst designs above them.

Every table decorated elegantly with different Victorian lace tablecloths, this is a BYOB eatery with wonderful service and excellent food that is prepared as individual meals so bring a bottle of wine to keep you busy while the food cooks.

Average dish is about $12 -$14 with generous proportions also enjoy their homade flavored teas and coffees with their homemade breads and deserts.

If your ever in the area and wnt to try 'em out PM me for their Phone #, they're located on Main St. East Stroudsburg PA.

I like to travel and eat so ya never know when I might be in your area so where's the best place to eat in your neck of the woods?

Sorry to break the bad news, but the best place to eat here is somewhere else. I suggest avoiding Liberal if you ever get to Kansas and want to eat. :o

There's a place here in Wooster, Ohio called the Coccia House. As you might have guessed, it's an Italian restaurant, and although their regular menu is excellent, they are best known for their pizza. It's absolutely phenomenal. You can get a big sixteen inch pie, loaded up with everything you like, for under twenty bucks and man on man, do they load it with the best pizza ingredients available. They're open every day but Monday and just about any evening you go there the place is packed with people, waiting to be seated or just picking up one of their awesome pies. They don't deliver, people are more than happy to go to them. Many nights there is an hour or more wait to get a pizza, but people will gladly wait, even though there are about a dozen other pizza joints in town to choose from. If you like pizza and you're anywhere near Wooster, this is the place to get a pizza that will put anyone else to shame. They're legendary around here.

Food...now you're talking!

There are numerous eateries here in Northern NJ that I like. My favorite overall is actually a diner....The Pompton Queen on Rt.23 N in Pequannock. The food is great and the people are very friendly and provide excellent service. Esav and I go there together every now and then to eat and chat.

Another good place that serves up some wicked good Italian food is The Pizza Man..again, in Pequannock. Some of the pest pasta dishes I have ever had came from there.

For bar food and Iriah fare I head over to Thatcher Mcgee's in Pompton Lakes. The place is owned by a full blooded Irishman and has the only authentic Irish thatched roof in the USA. The place was named after the guy who did the thatching on the roof. The Shepard's Pie is excellent as well as the Fish and Chips.

There are plenty more but I can't list them all now. I'll add them as they come to me.

Mmmm..food..Here's a quick list of some of my favorites:

Jeff's Kitchen: Some of the largest portions for the best prices. They have a killer cheeseburger club.

El Maguey: Some of the best Mexican food I've ever eaten. I guess it's because it's cooked by real Mexicans, not put together by some pimply faced caucasian high school kid.

Trawler: .25 cent wings on Sunday. Nuff said.

Exmore Diner: Crowded, noisy, but delicious food for great prices. They also have rather large portions too. The omelets are as big as records.

Kate's Kupboard: Awesome bakery. I'd kill someone for one of their bear claws.

The Blarney Stone: They have some great Irish nachos. Salmon, waffled potatoes, chives and sour cream. You wouldn't think those would go together, but they do.

Yellow Duck cafe: Another bakery, their specialty is muffins. Pumpkin filled cheese, cherry chocolate chip..I've yet to have one I don't like.

As much as I eat, I guess I'm lucky I have the metabolism of a hummingbird.

hot dogs-- George's on W. Broad St.
the burger--Thurman Cafe in German Village
Area Famous item--Schmidt's in German Village for the Bahama Mama and Giant cream puffs

That's what I'm talkin' about, real eats on America's backroads, the best sandwich shops, Reubens, the best Sausage gravy bisquits and eggs with coffee for $2.50 you can find anyplace and even the fancy places, you know, where dinner for two with drinks often runs over $200.

I could eat my way across the US then start on Europe.:D

East Coast there was a place in Jersey City that made the best Italian Hot dogs anywhere, thick wedges of potatos, two Sabrett foot longs, onions, tomatoe sauce on an Italian roll....:D  I think it was called Jimmy's or something like that, hell it's been 25 years since I had one, it was near where you got on the Path Train, mmmmmmm I can taste it now.:D

I miss Friendly's:grumpy: The time spent with my Dad as a kid, are in my heart. I miss those easier days. Az does not have friendly's so each year I make a trip back to taxachusetts to visit friends and yes friendly's Sadly most are closing. I love the hot dog, with toasted bun and for dessert the reese pieces ice cream sunday double on the toppings:D :D First week in June I having my yearly trip, I arrive in Boston around 6:30 in the morning and yes Friendly's is my first stop.

As for Az I love the small family resturants. Big chains are everwhere but home cooking or a touch of mom's secets in the food is what brings me back.

Numerous , numerous here in Fresno.

The Beerock shop - Dont know how many of you know what a Beerock is but if you've never had one your missin' out. This place does them almost as good as my Greatgrandma Weisbrodt did , almost but not quite ;) Their burgers are some of the best I have had , anywhere , they make these homeade peach pies that will make you roll onto your back and beg for a rubbin'.

Guadalajara - Living in the Republik here , one not only has the benefits of smog , crime and daily gang warefare but Fan-Tastic Mexican food too ! Fresno's Guadalajara is no exception. From the outside it looks like a little old run down cowboy type bar next to a mini ghetto , which is what it is , however inside is some of the best , traditional Mexican food to be found - and I know I this is a big boast - on Earth. Their flour and corn tortillas are handmade daily , the Chili Verde is simply to die for... You would charge a thousand Orcs for a sample. Well I would... ok .. The Carne Asada is second to none , the made on site chips and salsa will make you see visions of pretty senorita's a swirlin' and dont even get me going on the Pollo' Mole'.... oh my gosss.....

Piedmonte's Deli - This place has been around for decades , it is in the "little Europe" of Fresno which was mostly home to Italian , German and Russian immigrants back in the day. They serve some of the tastiest subs I've eaten and I've tried my best to find better. They make thier own pasta's as well.

However , then we have....
Sam's Deli - another deli/meatmarket that has been around for years and years , true old school-family run business. This place makes the best subs I have had to date , anywhere. I do not know what they do , or how they do it , nor do I question it. It's just goooood. They make thier own pasta's and sauces and desserts , thier own sausage ( which will make you cry if you BBQ it :) ) , the service is top notch , friendly , old fashioned , go there in between 11:45am and 1:00pm though and you'll probably be SOL , the lines are silly long.

The Meat Market - Fancy name huh ? Well this joint is the finest place in Fresno for meat if you are going to Que it up , no matter if it's seafood , poultry or beef , lamb , pork , they got it fresh and at a good price. About three years ago they opened up a BBQ and started doing thier own sandwiches , plates , dinners etc... Oh man... Thier lamb is so good that I only allow myself the sin of eating it once a year. The Tri-tip is some of the best you will find in California ( Tri-tip is sort of a valley/coastal thing - cheap cut of meat that is marinated and spiced into one of the most tastiest IMO , it is very popular here and nearby cities) They too make thier own sausage , Italian and German. Nothing like BBq'd German sausage on a roll with grilled onions and mustard/mayo :D :D :D :D

Ohlbergs - RIP - Sadly Ohlbergs closed down a couple years back :( That place was a traditional holiday stop for the Fries-Weisbrodt-Peirini clan. This was thee place in Fresno to go for German sausage , they had the best , but now it's gone.... One of the Grandma's made holiday Kouga , peach , apricot and berry , gone also... A few places here still make Kouga but not as good IMO , hers had an old world flavor.

Chinese Wok - Ok this is an odd story.
This place is about 5 minutes from my apartment , in a not so nice area but hell , the Chinese was the bomb there ! The original mom and son that opened it are not there , they moved back to China for a few years and her sister and brother in law came here from China to take thier place - which was not good since now the food is so-so , it was however the best Chinese take out I had ever had , what they put in the fried rice I will never know but my word was in phenomenal , the Kung Pao made me say "hot damn!!!" , the Mongolian beef was outof this world good. Potstickers and the made on site hot dipping oil..... oh mama..... Sigh , I am hoping they are coming back soon. I sure miss that rice.

Kebab House - I was just turned onto this place a couple of weeks ago , there are a lot of Armenians here in Fresno and the amount of similiar type restaraunts shows it , this place is one of the best. They make thier own Hummus and baba ganoush , both of which are absolutly delicious. The lamb gyro I had was...... I cannot put into words how good it was , thats all I have to say.

These places mentioned are some of the best , there are others too but the names escape me , notice how not one of them are corporate ? All are "mom and pop" style eateries , and those are always the best , most honest meals you can have. Ruth's Chris is darn good , but it is not and never will be Guadalajara or Sam's deli , the love is just not there. :)

Lansing Michigan is a dreary POS town but we do have great restuarants..

Delucas...best pizza in the state
El azteco..best authentic mexican food...
R Club..great family dining...chef salad is excellent..yummy...

In the Tidewater area there are a lot of lousy places to eat -- and a few lousy places to eat that do one thing really good -- then there are the places that'll charge $50 for lunch.

Best hamburgers -- Magnolia Steak, Ghent
Best hot dogs -- Doug's Hot Dogs, Oceanview
Best BBQ sandwich -- Megallon's Gourmet Barbeque, Little Creek
Best pizza -- Pizza Chef, Bayview
Best nachos -- Hell's Kitchen, Granby
Best burritos -- Machismo Burrito Bar, Brambleton
Best sammiches? Ain't found a decent sammich yet.

-Best Hamburger: Shady Grove (their green chilli cheese burger is too die for... the green chilli is the vegetable, not the meat btw). Shady Grove gets my vote for one of the best places to eat in general. All of their food is good, it's outdoor and indoor, have plenty of trees, and the waiters and good, friendly people.
-Best Pizza: Double Dave's or Mangia Pizza
-Best BBQ: Rudy's or Jay's (a little place off of 620 and 2222) EDIT!!!!! I forgot about Ironworks BBQ down town, which has the absolute BEST rib plate that I've ever had.
-Best Authentic Mexican: Rosa's is pretty good, and there are a few other nice places (very small places) that I can't remember at the moment.
-Best TexMex: A La Carrera (I'm not sure if it's open anymore though... :()

RUTT"S HUT in Clifton NJ- the best hot dog place in NJ.... bar none. I am 50 years old now and have been going here since I was a kid. It is well worth a road trip. One tip on ordering: the dogs are deep fried and if you order a "Ripper" the dog comes out literally ripped open from the hot oil and this is the most tastey in my opinion. Bon apetite.

The Greek House - the gyros here are legendary, anyone one that leaves the area pines for this place, it's the #1 place i hear mentioned by people that have been gone for a while

Padthai - it's kind of a local chain, there are a few in the area. the Pad Thai is to die for. we have amazing Thai food in town though. another place to check out is Sweet Basil

Ted's Cafe Escondido - there is supposed to be one opening in Norman, but there are a few in OKC and Edmond a few miles away. The Best Mexican Tacos are the best thing on the menu. expect a wait, i was there Saturday and waited about an hour for dinner. they make the tortillas in house, they are enough of a reason to go there by themselves. if you like it hot, order the Atomic Salsa

In Worcester, Tortilla Sam's is the place to go for mexican. The food is really cheap and you always end up taking some home. It's BYOB so you can take your favorite microbrew with you. I don't think I've ever spent more than 30 bucks for two people, appetizers included. Not to mention, they have a whole 'gringo fare' menu section for those who can't live without hamburgers and they are always open later than everyone else.

In my neck of the woods:
Taco Express for great fast-food Mexican
Uncle Bub's for best in the burbs BBQ

There's a place in Jersey just outside of Buttzville on Rt. 46 east bound side called Hot Dog Johnny's, family has been there for years like 60 years sellin' grilled hot dogs, nothin' special, mustard, relish, onion and pickle.

Not the best but everyone who's ever been on a trip to the Pocono's or the Water Gap goin' up 46 has probably stopped there, I've talked to people in CA who remember stoppin' as a kid in the 50s and 60s.

It's the atmosphere and the tradition of stoppin' on the way to the mountains or on the way home for a dog at HDJs.

Any Tri State people, (PA;NJ;NY) ever been there?

I love Delucas! I try to eat there at least once a month. El azteco is also great. Never heard of R Club, I'll have to look it up.

You can get 'pretty near' everything here in Northern Virginia. Great steaks (Charlie Palmer, Ray's in Arlington), good to excellent seafood (McCormack and Schmick, D'Acqua, Kinkeads), solid burgers (Five Guys), and an incredible array of ethnic food (Greek - Komi, Thai - Bangkok 54, African - Izora, Brazil - Cafe Atlantico, Lebanese - Zaytinya, etc. & etc.).

Still haven't found a really solid Mexican restaurant, though. A number of good Spanish places, especially a fine tapas joint in downtown DC named Jaleo...but nothing really stellar in the Mexican category.

Best Pizza is hotly contested. I like 2 Amy's in NW DC and Pizzeria Paradiso (the one on Dupont Circle). Famoso's is very good, but too darned expensive!

They've even got Ethiopian here!:D
