Best place to eat in your neck of the woods.

but the best are always the little hole-in-the-wall joints.

Demicelli's- Italian- their fried mozzarrella isn't just breaded it's a round of cheese inbetween two pieces of bread. Their small calzone is 16", served on a pizza pan with a knife stuck in it. Two people can eat like royalty for under $30. (Katella & Euclid in Anaheim)

Nel Bom- Korean BBQ- you grill it yourself at the table, awesome spicy pork and tofu soup, all you can eat for $11. (Beach, just north of Katella)

Thuyen Vien- Vietnamese- great veggie place, spring rolls, spicy "chicken", vermicelli, curry soup, cafe sua da, under $30, right across from a Buddhist temple (Magnolia & Katella)

burgers, too many good ones- Dukes, Paul's, Harry's, Boy's, Fuego, Apollo's.

mexican, like burgers- Alberto's, Alierto's, Dos Amigos, Cabos

I live in the 'burbs of D.C.

Many, many, many good restaurants in town, and out in the suburbs. If you're into steaks, there's the popular Ruth's Chris in the area. In the District, there's the Prime Rib. I haven't been to Ruth's Chris, but I mention that here because of it's reputation. I have been to the Prime Rib. I had a roast beef sandwich there, and I have to say, that was the best roast beef sandwich I've had, ever.

There are also numerous ethnic restaurants. Too many to mention them all. A few I have been to: Matuba's in Bethesda, MD. Excellent Japanese food. Great sushi, sashimi, tempura, teriyaki--the whole suite. If you go there, make sure to order the soft shell crab tempura if the crab is in season. Best soft shells I've ever had.

Delhi Dhaba also in Bethesda. Good Indian food for a reasonable price. Their lamb curry was excellent last time I was there.

Louisiana Express, again, in Bethesda. Very good selection of Louisiana fare such as Po'Boys, shrimp etoufe and jambalaya.

Down the street from where I live, there's Urban BBQ serving Texas style barbecue. Their smoked Buffalo wings are...exquisite, and their beef brisket is smoky and tender.

Excuse me, I think I need to get something to eat.

If your ever in Rochester Minnesota check out a place called John Hardy's BBQ. It's the only place in this area that really stands out to me. Smoked meats(pork, beef, chicken, ham, turkey, etc.), fried potatoes(the best), and REALLY good sauce(from mild to burn a hole in your face hot). I have three jars of their sauce in the fridge and no other BBQ sauce.

And there is a pretty decent fast food, burger and fries joint called Snappy Stop that I like. It's way better than McDonald's or BK in my opinion.

The one thing in Detroit you will NEVER have a problem finding is a Coney Dog. You can't swing a dead cat in Detroit without hitting a Coney Island.

The ones with muliple establishments are Senate, Leo's, L. Georges, Three Brothers, National, Nikkis. They all sell the same thing, Breakfast, Hot Dogs with Chili, and Gyros.

The coney craze statred in the 1940's in Detroit with two establishments, American coney Island was first and then Lafayette coney island Right next door to each other on Lafayette street in Downtown Detroit. Traditionally Coney Islands were owned by Greek Immigrants, Now most of the mom and pop places are owned by middle eastern immigrants. The food is the same.

Here in Detroit we like a hotdog covered with chili with onions and mustard with a side of French fries covered in the same chili. I shouldn't say "We" I haven't had one in over two years.

Still haven't found a really solid Mexican restaurant, though. A number of good Spanish places, especially a fine tapas joint in downtown DC named Jaleo...but nothing really stellar in the Mexican category.

I don't think there's any decent Mexican food in Virginia -- nearly a hundred Mexican restaurants in Tidewater, and of the dozen I've been to I wouldn't feed that crap to my dog. The "meat" looks like it came out of a tin can pre-shredded, and I honestly did not think it was possible to ruin beans and rice but somehow they manage. "Chi Chi's" is better -- and they really suck.

HOWEVER, there's a place in Ghent called "Luna Maya" that is only open for dinner which serves outstanding Columbian food -- which is really nothing more than Mexican food with superior ingredients.

The Edgewater Cafe, a small Mexican food chain around here with locations in Salem Mass and Magnolia by the sea (that I know of). They have a good jalapeño sauce and a liquor license! It's going to be a lot better to eat there when I'm 21.

Just a few of my favorites around Ft. Worth

Hamburgers-Kincaid's Grocery, Fred's Cafe, Tommy's Hamburgers.
Mexican-The Original, La Playa Maya. (there are a ton of other great Tex-Mex restaurants in the city, as well)
BBQ-Railhead, Cousin's.
Seafood-JJ's Oyster Bar, Ocean Rock.
Home Style/Soul Food-Paris Coffe Shop, Mama Lou's, Dixe House, Arlington Steak House, Drew’s Place.
Steak-Cattlemen's Steakhouse, M&M Steakhouse.
Breakfast-Paris Coffe Shop, Ol' South Pancake House, Joe T. Garcia's Bakery.

If anyone is ever near Pecos NM, just off of I25 between Santa Fe and Las Vegas, find this little place that is just south of the intersection of highways 63 and 50 'downtown' Pecos. I cannot remember the name, but it is on the West side of the street immediately south of the intersection of the highways and has a large open patio on the North side of the building (and old turn of the century dance hall). You can't miss it. You've never had enchiladas or carnitas to match this place.

If in San Antonio NM stop at the Owl Bar and get a 'world famous' green chile cheesburger. Worth the effort. (After you eat you can take another 20 or 30 seconds to explore the rest of the 'town', where Conrad Hilton was born).

If in Roswell, perhaps for the alien festival, try Mi Cabana in the 100 block of East McGaffey Street. Don't let the crazy interior decor deter you, the food is awesome, especially the tacos de lengua which are my favorite (with onion y cilantro!!).

If your ever on Rt. 191 in Nazereth PA, not far from Easton PA, go to Sicily's, has the best pizza outside of The City, (NY), not to mention the typical Italian dinners along with Steak Pizzaiola, (I'm not Italian so don't shoot me for my spelling.), the tenderest veal I've ever had plus a great desert menu.

PS also a BYOB place.

this is easy, at my grill or campfire pit.

for my family and i it doesn't get any better than this.

it makes it hard to order steak out.

Old Post House restaurant in Nottingham PA. Good breakfasts, good dinners, hell, their salads are pretty damn good. Get off Rte 1 and onto 272 south, turn left onto Baltimore, and keep on going past the Herrs plant, its on the right. Slow down in the area though, lots of Amish all over the place.

Afterwards, take a drive down to Chesapeake City and watch the big ships go through the canal, pay through the nose for a good crab cake at Schaefers Canal House on RTE 213.

Unos Pizzeria in Bel Air MD, on Rte 1 and 24, great deep dish pies and salads.

Marias subshop in Fallston MD, used to be in Belair, great subs and good pies, say hi to George and Hannah ;)

Sunny Side Up restaurant, formerly the Shrewsbury Family Restaurant, on the Susquehanna Trail/York RD right over the MD line, they might be out of business right now, they change hands about once every few years, but keep the same wait staff and same short order cook, great food, although their omelettes were halved in size and are a couple more bucks expensive.

best cream of crab in the B-more metro area was at the Driftwood in Middle River, off Back River Neck RD, real cool little bar right on the Back River, it's been long since shut down, razed, and condos put up. You can't go there anymore, but if you did before, you know what I am talking about

Harborside Bar and Grill in west Ocean City MD, great bar, they got a pool table, and they have the best jerk chicken I've ever had

Ryans, which is a buffet chain, the one in Chambersburg PA, best steak I have ever had. I've paid 25 bucks for a good steak, and they weren't as good as this 9 buck buffet

This is about good food, I have to mention Wawas subs, I like their smoked turkey sub, better than some delis, pretty damn good for a gas stations offering

Caplans delly in Woodlawn MD, the good one, on Ambassador RD. Their prices are sky high, but for most of the food, they do a good job. Their cold cut is the best cold cut I've ever had.

best crabcake in MD is a toss up for me. It's either G &M's in Landsdowne, or the Windsor Inn near my work place in Woodlawn. You can't eat a crab cake fried, you have to get it broiled, and they are the top two contenders. Next in line is the Marina Deck in Ocean City, nothing like having a crab cake with your omelette ;)

forget the name of the place, but the best pit beef sandwiches are at a small shack next to the Gentlemans Gold Club (yeah ;))on Rte 40 just inside the city.

That -- is very good to know. Thanks!

Let me see...up in here in NH food is good..:)

Years ago, we had the Green Ridge Turkey Farm, now there's a Barnes and Noble there...

Anyway, for Breakfast, go to Parker's Maple Barn in Mason. Very rustic, they make their own syrup, heat the restaurant with a large wood stove. Get the parkers special, you will not eat the rest of the day. Texas toast, real ham, specialty pancakes...yum!

For seafood, hit Markey's or Brown's in Seabrook. They are right across the street from each other. For a quick lunch or supper, try Clam Haven in Derry.

But my favorite is Bill Cahill's super subs in Hudson. The chicken bomb is...THE BOMB!

Dangit guys, now I'm hungry.

Glenn

Let's see, there's not much in my neck of the woods except fast food, but there are a few places that stand out.

Charlies Grilled Subs makes a cheese steak sub that will almost feed two people and is a sub lovers dream come true.

Billy Ray's used to be a little hole-in-the-wall pool room that has since remodeled, lost the pool tables and gone kind of upscale, but prices are still reasonable, and their specialty, the pool room burger, still has people lining up for a table.

Finally, there's a little out of the way place called Champs. It's not much to look at, but service is friendly, prices are very reasonable, and the food is unbelievable! Anything from hot dogs to hamburgers to steaks.

Now if we could just get a decent chinese take-out close by, I'd be extremely happy.

Found a new place near work, Somethin' Cool. Little bit soul food, little bit everything. Rolling RD and Windsor Mill.

Also, right next to me, there is a place called Grandmas. They burn their chicken, the fish is all bones, the collard greens and string beans are all fat, but the home fries are GOOD! They're also a lil greasy, but then its soul food...

Chinese food has been mentioned, I love Chinese food, but can't handle the MSG. My favorite food is General Tsos, and pepper steak. No one can do pepper steak, absolutely no one, except for a place called Chadwicks in the Chadwick shopping center on Security BLVD near me at work. Lately they're putting in more steak than peppers and onions, so its even better. I also like to get crab meat and cheese wonton, fried bits of crab meat mixed with cheese. Gut bomb, but it is good. But no one else can do Chinese food like Chadwicks. It is a rare treat though, and I can only have a little bit.

Got a question for you guys. I have been going to a place called Yummys on Liberty RD in Randallstown for several years now. Good food, good cook/owner. Mama Choi can make an omelette like no ones business, and the meat she uses is sweet, and she uses sweet peppers. Good food, although the home fries aren't always cooked through. Anyway, a good place to get breakfast when I am working Saturdays. About a month ago, I stopped in for two egg and meat sandwiches, and got my dollars change, but was waved on as I waited for my cents change, they were busy. Well, I was only due about 15 cents, but didn't worry about it, and next time I went in, I got my full on big Saturday breakfast. Same thing, got my dollars change, but not my coins change. She just waved me on, busy again. I didn't say a word, but I'm not going there again. I know I should have said something, but didn't because I did not want spit in my food if I ordered again, if pocket change is going to make them or break them, I don't want them cutting corners on my food prep. So, Yummys has great food, for breakfast and dinner, but make sure you get your change.

In Old Town Manassas Virginia there is a place called Carmello's. It is an Italian-Portugese restaurant where the items on the menu are marked with an I or a P to indicate which cuisine. Casual attire is OK as are walk-ins but they provide first class service from their tuxedoed wait staff at reasonable prices. They have a nice little lounge area to relax in if you have to wait or you want to have an after dinner drink. The paella is served in a tureen that would make all but the most stalwart trencherman blanch.

Thanks for the advice! All these years and I've never stopped there. I don't live very far away from Manassas...

Best place to eat is Mike & Shelley's kitchen.

Perfect portions, low fat healthy recipies, and served hot off of the stove or BBQ grill.

I'm heading there right now for lunch.
