Best place to eat in your neck of the woods.

Austin is a food town

With due respect to other burger places
HUTS is hard to beat

La Habernera on Oltorf for the best Tex-Mex (fajitas especially)

Fitties in Bastrop has the best Barbeque AND the best breakfast tacos - you have to try the Marty and the Jailhouse tacos

I don't eat red meat so I don't know any good burger places and I don't think Hawaii has any pizza places that would be better than the mainland, but we do have great seafood.

I've only eaten at John Dominis twice, but it's a great place with great food. It's more fine dining but it's an excellent restaurant. Try and get a seat by the window as it overlooks the ocean and if there's a low hanging full moon the view is even better.

The absolute best sushi I've had so far has been from Mitch's Sushi Bar. If I'm not mistaken, Mitch's (owner) brother does the fish auction or something so he gets really great fish for the sushi. I think I wound up paying about $70 but one of my orders was chutoro that cost $20 per order so that jacked my cost up a bit--it was worth it, though.

Nick's Fishmarket in Waikiki is another great upscale restaurant.

Hakone in the Hawaii Prince Hotel in Waikiki is an all you can eat Japanese food restaurant. It's $43.00 per person and it's worth it.

For plate lunch places Poke (pronounced po-kay) Stop is one of my favorites. The chef/owner (Elmer Guzman) worked with chefs Alan Wong, Sam Choy and Emeril. It's a seafood place so lots of good fish. I recommend the seared ahi poke bowl or the furikake or garlic ahi are terrific as well. It's a small walk in place with some tables outside--plates will generally run in the $8-$12 range.

Kaka'ako Kitchen is another good plate lunch place by Ward Warehouse. Gourmet plate lunches that are good.

For chinese food go to Panda Cuisine near Ala Moana shopping center. They have a great selection of dim sum and their lemon chicken is the best that I've tasted. I'm not really a chinese food person, but I love their food.

On a side note, I was just in Vegas a few weeks ago and we found this small sushi bar called "Yama Sushi" right off the strip on Flamingo (around Olive Garden on the opposite side of Flamingo). All you can eat sushi for $24 and it was really good sushi as well. I was very pleasantly surprised and went back the next night again. If I'm ever back in Vegas I will definitely be going back there.

Okay, now I'm really hungry--I need to go find something to eat...

How about the Poke in Safeway? Just steam some rice and good to go:thumbup: also Ono's in Honalulu is pretty tasty :D

Long Beach California, The POTHOLDER diner on Broadway...The best and biggest breakfast in the world, stone cold foxes for waitresses, and don't take any crap owners. There is a picture of a guy on Mt Kilimanjaro (Splg?) with a sign on the peak that says "Eat at the Potholder" that one of the customers actually took there. I heard the owner tell a lady once when she complained about the wait for her food "This ain't fuckin McDonalds lady, You get what you pay for here and you'll have to wait like everyone else."
